Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! Last week I upgraded my Water and Earth archons giving them access to higher level units. This time I'm levelling up my Death and Fire archons. I haven't been getting archons from the daily reward chests so I gave in and bought them from the market.
Thalgrimore
Thalgrimore is the Death archon. Like the early Death archons that decrease enemy stats, he decreases the enemy's health by one. I was missing three copies to level him up to three so I bought those from the market. Levelling him up enabled to summon higher level units most especially level two legendary cards.
Little Sister is a legendary unit that at level two increases her magic damage dealt to two and gains the ability to fly. I have my Little Sister at level two for a long time but couldn't unlock her full power in battles because my archon was at a lower level. As a result, I don't use Little Sister often because her one magic damage is ineffective especially against the Death tank, Nim
Guard Captain who has the Void ability. After the archon upgrade, Little Sister will have more utility mostly in Earthquake rulesets. There are only two flying units in the Frontier, Little Sister and Light splinter's Celestial Guardian.
Compared to the Celestial Guardian, I believe Little Sister has more utility because of her lower mana at six and her other ability, Life Leech whereas Celestial Guardian needs eight mana and only has the Flying ability.
Aside from Little Sister, my other cards full potential will be unlocked as well as they take advantage of their higher stats in battles.
Barthalamas
My Barthalamas has long been missing one copy for him to level up to three, practically begging me to buy one and level him up. It's just that I mostly use Water and Earth that's why I prioritized them. Now I finally gave in and levelled up my Fire archon.
The upgrade enabled me to enjoy the full benefits of my level four common cards and level three rare that was not possible when Barthalamas was at a lower level. Chaos Furybringer adds one more health stat which he sorely needs because his health is on the low side at only three. Frankarsgard also gained one more health stat which is essential for a tank. I mostly appreciated the upgrade of Sturdy Axe Warden who gained one more range attack stats. This is huge since he is one of my damage dealers in the Fire splinter. Rare card Ember Roast Sow also gained a health stat.
Neutral Cards
Upgrading my archons means they unlock more stats of the neutral cards. New Beluroc Aegis adds one more health stat which is important in his role as a Taunt unit. Grand Consul Minion and Kanaaq Miner also gained a health stat while Spellmonger upgraded his speed and armor stats.
Featured Battle
The battle had the Earthquake ruleset. Usually I wouldn't use the Death splinter in this battle and would rely on the high health of the Earth splinter. However, since I upgraded my Little Sister and gained the Flying ability, she is perfect in this ruleset and is my key card in battle. The enemy chose the Earth element relying on the extra health provided by the archon and Dread Tafarian's healing ability to survive the Earthquake damage. Little Sister carried the battle for our side dealing two magic damage and while being immune to the earthquake damage. She was crucial in winning the battle.
