I will look next time I travel as I have never had problems besides a terrible mattress. I am sure this is more common than we think because we know hotels are all about profit and probably only change the beds every few years.

well the thing is that even if they do change the mattress, that is just going to give a new home to the bugs. There is a misconception that bed bugs only live in beds but this is far from the truth. They live everywhere and there appears to be a pecking order as far as the prestigious areas near the food source is concerned... but they can live anywhere, in anything. Changing a bed doesn't change a damn thing other than who the bug-king is... if that makes any sense.
