Hi travelfeed friends, today we will discuss the burial of the largest Dutch soldier in Asia, which is now used as a historical tourism object. The Tourism Object (Kerkhof Peucut) is located in the province of Aceh, the capital of Banda Aceh, Aceh, Indonesia. The Tourism Object (Kerkhof Peucut) is also a place of visit especially for foreign tourists (especially tourists from the Netherlands). Travelfeed friends wherever you are, as recorded in history if in ancient times the Dutch state had colonized Indonesia, as well as Aceh, because Aceh is also included in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. this is how this post was created.

According to the wikipedia source that I read, it states that :

Kerkhof Peucut is the grave of Dutch soldiers (KNIL) who died in the Aceh War between 1873 and 1904. (KNIL) stands for Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indische Leger is the Dutch language het Koninklijke Nederlands (ch) -Indische Leger

as quoted on the [wikipedia] page, KNIL is the Dutch East Indies colonial army. KNIL has its own air force unit called Militaire Luchtvaart van het Koninklijk Nederlands-Indisch Leger and several elements of the Royal Netherlands Navy are also stationed in the Dutch East Indies.

The area (Kerkhof Peucut) is located next to the Aceh Tsunami building (now) if you want to visit (Kerkhof Peucut) you don't need to look far, because (Kerkhof Peucut) is very close to the city center, only 1 kilometer from the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque . [Read also : Baiturrahman Grand Mosque - a Historic Building as an Islamic Tourist Destination in Aceh, Indonesia.]

so if you have read my post about historical buildings that are Islamic tourism objects, namely the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, then (Kerkhof Peucut) is the next destination you should visit travelfeed friends. especially if you come from the Netherlands, you definitely want to see the traces of your ancestors who fought and died here right? There are several big names of Dutch military figures buried in the area (Kerkhof Peucut) including :

  1. Johan Harmen Rudolf Köhler
  2. Johannes Ludovicius Jakobus Hubertus Pel
  3. W.B.J.A. Scheepens

According to my observations, there have been so many foreign tourists visiting for pilgrimages or to see the graves of their ancestors, especially when the Tsunami hit Aceh on December 26, 2004, aid came from all over the world, not least from the Netherlands, even America and also major countries in the world. Luckily, when the tsunami hit Aceh, the area (Kerkhof Peucut) was not hit by the tsunami waves, so you can be sure if the location of the tomb is still the same as it was since it was first buried.

Therefore I highly recommend (Kerkhof Peucut) as a tourist destination that you must visit travelfeed friends. besides you get knowledge about history, this will also open your horizons to be more developed, tours like this can also be educational tours and historical tours. for fees I have explained it in a previous post about the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, so when you visit Aceh, you find lots of historical buildings and also other unique tourist places, one of which is this building (Kerkhof Peucut)

For those of you who like historical tourist attractions, then (Kerkhof Peucut) you can make a travelfeed friend's next visit list, but if you want to go to Aceh to visit, then I recommend if you don't travel this month (April - May) because Aceh is fasting Ramadan, you will not find the usual crowd when you visit. because the people of Aceh are followers of the Islamic religion, then you will not be able to taste very delicious culinary delights later, because all trading activities are closed until before sunset. That's enough, maybe on the next opportunity I will tell you about the unique and enchanting tourist attractions, still in the Aceh area. just look forward. greetings from travelfeed friends.
