Shilenga is a village in Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region of Russia, which is the part of the Samotovino rural settlement. The distance along an asphalt road to the district center of Veliky Ustyug city is 12 km and to the center of the municipality of Novator village is 5 km.
The name of the village is derived from the Shilenga River. Hence the name of the most popular pine forest for mushroom picking - Shilengsky pine forest.
The village stands near the Sukhona River at the entrance to the forest.
This is another settlement, past which I passed a hundred times, but have never been inside. Moreover, this village has been hanging in the bookmarks for visiting for several years.
And there is something to see here! Every house is five walled or is a hut with a balcony or mezzanine!
There are also two streets at right angles.
And the light at sunset was exactly what is needed for such places!
True, it seemed strange to me that the facades were facing not towards the river, but towards the forest.
Nga (n'ga) - such an ending was given to all small rivers by our ancient ancestors several thousand years ago.
Shilenga stands on a small hill.
Therefore, it has never been flooded with large water.
Wooden buildings look especially attractive under the rays of the setting sun.
This is the only house with a facade facing the river.
The road to the river runs through the village itself.
A small field separates Shilenga from the Sukhona River.
From the hill where Shilenga is located, the village of Odomchino is visible, in the name of which the second most popular forest among mushroom pickers is also named.
The only abandoned and ruined house.
But what of the minuses is the sawmill located on the territory of the village.
The stock of wood is simply huge. There is only one question: were these logs really harvested in the protected Shilengsky pine forest?
...But I have long since taken the position of an observer.
If the system allowed such a gross interference in nature, then it was so conceived.
