The Ring

I very often study the map from the satellite. It happens that I sit for hours and just look at different terrain, be it a local region or very remote places. Once I came across an interesting lake of an ideal round shape, which is located not far from Vologda, near the village of Kurkino.

Kurkino is known for its old estate located in it, and the settlement itself was in ancient times a noble estate.

But I was more interested in the lake than in the old manor. The road to the reservoir passes through the alley.

The lake is nothing more than an artificially designed pond from a lake of natural origin.

All this was done around the so-called round pasture, and the pond itself was given the simplest name - the Ring.

According to the stories of local residents, the depth of the lake reaches four meters.

Willows are planted around the lake along the shore.

For wildlife, willows are familiar to the eye, but here they grow in an orderly manner, which immediately betrays the artificiality of this place.

It is a strange feeling when walking along the shore: as if the shore does not end and only the landscape on the opposite shore changes.

If there was not a brick booth in one of the metro stations, the brain would be strained even more, since this is the only reference point.

Maybe in such a place you can't really walk around with a variety of photographic subjects, but unusual sensations from a walk are provided!

Autumn will probably be the perfect time to visit this Circle.

Well, or the middle of spring, when the ice has already melted, but the foliage has not yet gained density.

Oh yes, it will be interesting if hard ice forms without snow - this will be the best condition, but a very rare occurrence.

According to the stories of local residents, the depth of the lake reaches four meters.

That could be easily measured. For example take fishing rods with certain lengths.

The depth at the center may differ from the depth at the shore. For a perfect measurement, I will need a boat with a cable and a sinker.
