As I opened my Facebook last Monday, a memory of last year's road trip has popped out in my timeline which made me reminisce that wonderful trip. I was smiling the whole time while browsing on our photographs.

I have several road trips with my boyfriend when he was still here in the Philippines. When I knew that he was planning to work abroad, I convinced him that we should travel at least once a month so that we will be able to cherish our time together before we will be apart.

ROAD TRIP

I had my last travel last year. My boyfriend was leaving the country, so we decided to have our last travel around the Southern part of Cebu as we already had a road trip in the northern part of the province.

Our last travel together was really memorable as we decided to tour around the whole municipalities of Southern Cebu.

We started our road trip from my boyfriend’s place which is the City of Naga, Cebu. From Naga, we chose to cross Barili road going to Samboan, then we traveled on the other side as we went home. Hence, we literally had a round trip to the southern part of Cebu.

The sun was scorching hot as we had our road trip, but we had fun while having lots of conversation along the way and enjoying the fresh air and wonderful sceneries of the province. We also have lots of stopovers as we arrive in the different municipalities of Cebu. I always tell my boyfriend to stop driving for a while as I want him to rest because I know that driving a motorcycle under the heat of the sun is exhausting. We would find a tree or a plaza for us to rest and enjoy our conversation while eating some foods that we saw along the street.

It was already afternoon when we arrive at our destination which is Samboan. We went there without booking accommodation, so as we arrive, we immediately went to different resorts and transient rooms to look for available accommodation. As we saw a vacant room, we left our things there and started wandering around the place.

We chose Samboan as our last travel destination because that was part of our travel goals before. We also heard that there are several waterfalls in Samboan, and as a fan of waterfalls, I was excited to visit the place.

We initially planned to visit all the waterfalls in Cebu, but we were only able to visit two waterfalls – Dao Falls and Inambakan Falls. Our time was only limited, so we decided to enjoy those two awesome waterfalls.

DAO FALLS

As we arrived in the vicinity of Dao Falls, we waited for a local guide because we can’t go inside without someone to guide us.

While trekking, I had fun taking photographs of the surroundings and I enjoyed the tranquillity of the place. We walked across a shallow river, then we climbed on a few rocks stairs before reaching the spectacular Dao Falls.

My boyfriend and I were both amazed as we saw the huge falls. We hurriedly swim on its cool and refreshing water. When we’re satisfied, we decided to keep going and visit other waterfalls.

INAMBAKAN FALLS

It was late in the afternoon when we arrived at Inambakan Falls, so there were only few people in the area at that time. We immediately get ourselves into the water and enjoyed swimming.

After several minutes, other people decided to leave, so my boyfriend and I were left in that place. The place was so quiet and it gave me goosebumps (well, it’s because I have this terrible out of world imagination). So, we decided to capture some photographs before leaving as well.

We went back to our accommodation to take a shower and prepared going out to look for a place to have our dinner. It took us some time to look for any restaurant or carenderia in the area. I even thought that we won’t be able to eat our dinner and we’ll just sleep with an empty stomach. Good thing that we saw a barbeque vendor on the street, so we ate our dinner there.

GOING BACK HOME

On the next day, we woke up early morning since we planned on getting back to the city before lunchtime.

Although we didn’t have a planned detail on our trip and our activities were just spontaneous, we still had a really fun and memorable experience. We were able to give suggestions on our activities and happily arrives with one decision.

This may not be our best travel experience, but we can say that our last trip together was fun and all worth it. We never regret our decision to travel as much as we can, because it helped us to have a strong bond and we had something to reminisce while waiting to hold each other’s hand again.
