Hey, guys,
today I have some photos from the Rostock weekly market. Despite Corona, the weekly market in Rostock still takes place, so we were there for the second time.
The stalls at the market were pulled further apart, tables and chairs were removed, so you can't sit down with a fish roll directly in the middle of the market anymore. But that was bearable ;) Self-service is also no longer available.
The Rostock weekly market takes place on the Neuer Markt. This market is located in the city centre of Rostock opposite the pink city hall. At the weekly market you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, herbs, flowers, cheese, eggs and meat, mainly from regional production. In addition, you will find textiles, small articles of daily use and home accessories.
The market takes place every Monday to Friday from 09:00 - 17:00 and on Saturday from 08:00 - 13:00.
On Tuesday, Friday and Saturday organic products are available.
From March to September the self-producer market takes place every Saturday. But we have not visited it yet. If someone makes experiences, please write it in the comments ;)
After we strolled over the market (on the photos it looks a bit big, but actually it is relatively small) we walked down the main shopping street, which is surrounded by beautiful hanseatic buildings, to the university and lay down on the meadow. The meadow is between the fountain and the main building of the University of Rostock.
By walking further alongside the shopping street alongside the university, one gets to this thinking. It is actually not a beautiful monument, this is true, but it was not created for this purpose. The sculpture is called Screaming Stallion by Jo Jastram Bronze and is located near the Green Gate. It is supposed to be a symbol and admonition of all maltreated creatures on earth. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Kröpelliner Tor. It's probably a matter of taste if you like it... but I wanted to introduce it to you here because Rostock has very few sculptures to offer ;)
