A quick getaway to the Queen City of the South

in TravelFeedlast year

After 7 years, I was able to visit Cebu again. I was excited when my aunt told me that we were going to visit the city. Cebu City is very far from our province; you have to travel from Guiuan-Tacloban and Tacloban-Ormoc, or you can just book a flight from Tacloban-Cebu, but if you're on a budget, I suggest doing a land trip. Once you arrive in Ormoc City, you still need to ride a ferry so you can reach your final destination.

Upon arriving in Cebu, our first destination was Plaza Independencia, since it was just near the port. We just took some pictures and went home immediately to take a rest. We stayed at Sanremo Oasis, located at City De Mare South Road Properties, Cebu City, which is very convenient because SM Seaside is a minute's walk from the place.

On the next day, we went to Mandaue and ate our lunch at J Mall, particularly in the Snackyard. Their food was good; I love their steak because it was so tender and juicy. After eating, we went to Sirao Garden, also known as "Little Amsterdam." Sirao is located in Busay, Cebu, and is a few minutes away from JY Square Mall in Lahug, Cebu City.

The place was very attractive because of its various flowers. You no longer need to fly across the country to visit Amsterdam; you can just visit Sirao Garden. They have so many beautiful flowers and other attractions that are Instagram-worthy. We had fun exploring Sirao and took a lot of pictures. Thank you to our driver for not getting tired of taking our pictures.

After Sirao Garden, we went to the CCLEX (Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway), the longest bridge in the Philippines that connects Cebu City to Cordova town in Mactan. The bridge has a nice view. You can stop and take pictures on the bridge; it's like passing the famous Golden Gate Bridge in the USA.

We also went to Santo Niño Basilica or The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu to hear mass and also offer our prayers and devotion to the child Jesus.

On our last day in the city, we went to the famous Simala Shrine, which is 3 hours away from the city. Simala Shrine is located at Marian Hills, Lindogon, Simala, Sibonga, Cebu. It was my dream to visit the miraculous mother; the sad part was that the church was under construction, so we weren't able to go. If you want to offer a petition, there are candles for sale, and each color has its meaning or purpose. You must know the dos and don'ts before entering the shrine.

Those were the only place we visited during our short stay in the City and I know Cebu has a lot more to offer, I will surely come back and explore other attractions in the city.

It's Sinulog week here in Cebu, if only it's just an hour ride from Guiuan we could definitely party over the weekend 😅

Hahaha next goal naman maka experience uh Sinulog

Yes, yes! Puhon! 🙏

A great trip and the pictures are beautiful. It's a pity that the church you wanted to visit was under renovation, but this way, you have an excuse to come back.
