Tuburan. Just the name conjures images of lush greenery, cool mountain air, and the comforting aroma of delicious food. My second visit to this charming town in Cebu, Philippines, was everything I remembered and more – even with a generous helping of rain and fog!
This time, I wasn't alone. My boyfriend and his family joined me on this adventure, making the experience even more special. We arrived during the rainy season, and the whole town was draped in a soft, misty fog. It gave everything a mystical, almost magical quality. The air was crisp and cool, a welcome change from the usual humidity. The roads, winding their way through the mountains, were slick with rain, adding a touch of excitement to our journey.
Tuburan itself is nestled in a valley, surrounded by rolling hills covered in vibrant green rice paddies. The landscape is breathtaking, especially when shrouded in mist. The fog clung to the mountainsides, creating an ethereal atmosphere. It was like stepping into a painting, a scene straight out of a fantasy novel. The constant drizzle added to the ambiance, creating a soothing soundtrack to our exploration.
Our main goal, besides soaking in the beauty of the location, was of course, the food! Tuburan is known for its delicious cuisine, and we were eager to sample some local favorites. We headed straight to a local restaurant, the air thick with the tantalizing smells of grilling meat and simmering sauces.
We ordered a feast: sizzling sisig, tender pork belly, flavorful pork BBQ, and, for dessert, the creamy, dreamy maja blanca. The sisig, with its perfectly crisp bits of pork and onions, was a delightful starter. The pork belly, slow-cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection, was a true highlight. The pork BBQ, marinated to perfection, was juicy and flavorful. And the maja blanca? A sweet, coconutty ending that perfectly rounded off our meal. Each dish was bursting with authentic Filipino flavors, a testament to the culinary skills of the region.
Beyond the food, the people of Tuburan added to the charm of our trip. Everyone we met was incredibly welcoming and friendly, always ready with a warm smile and a helping hand. Their kindness and generosity made us feel right at home.
This second trip to Tuburan wasn't just a revisit; it was a rediscovery. The foggy weather added a unique dimension to the already stunning scenery, making it even more memorable. The delicious food, the warm hospitality, and the breathtaking views all combined to create an unforgettable experience. Sharing this adventure with my boyfriend and his family made it even more special, creating memories that we'll cherish for years to come. If you're looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, Tuburan is the perfect destination. Just be prepared for a little rain – it only adds to the magic! And don't forget to try the sisig!
Parang Taal ano. Yan ang sisig walang itlog or mayonaise simple lang.
Paborito ko Ang sisig lalo na kung may itlog at kalamansi
What a foggy place to visit
It's quite far from the city but it was worth it. The place feels like Baguio
