We decided to move to another area in Manila to meet another Filipino friend. Despite the late hours of Manila night like any other big city night, there were many cars moving around.
또 다른 필리핀 친구를 만나기 위해 마닐라의 다른 지역으로 이동하기로 했어요. 마닐라의 밤도 여느 대도시의 밤처럼 늦은 시각임에도 불구하고, 많은 차들이 돌아다니고 있었어요.
You can move anywhere conveniently by metro in Manila. I think the one-way ticket was about 0.3 USD.
마닐라는 메트로가 잘 설치되어 있어서 편리하게 지역을 이동할 수 있어요. 가격은 편도 표가 약 0.3 USD 정도 했던 것 같아요.
I was thirsty on the way, so I bought coconut water that I could easily buy in the Philippines. It was very impressive to drill a hole in the lid of the plastic bottle and put a straw in it. I think it's a great idea.
가는 길에 목이 말라서 필리핀에서 쉽게 사먹을 수 있는 코코넛워터를 샀어요. 페트병 뚜껑에 구멍을 뚫어 빨대를 꽂아주는 것이 참 인상적이었는데요. 참 좋은 아이디어 같아요.
What was really interesting was that there was also a strawberry flavor of coconut water. It's not just strawberry flavor, it's a bit mixed with yogurt, but it was really good anyway!! Korean people can't drink coconut water, so why do you...ᅲᅲ?
정말 신기했던 것은 코코넛워터 딸기맛도 있었다는 거에요. 그냥 딸기맛은 아니고 요구르트와 살짝 섞은 것 같기도 한데, 어쨋든 정말 맛있었어요!! 한국 사람들은 의외로 코코넛워터를 잘 못 마시는데, 이 맛있는 것을 왜...ㅠㅠ?
We arrived at the SM CITY STA.MESA shopping mall where we were supposed to meet another friend. The Philippines has security concerns, so large buildings have X-RAY devices and security guards that monitor explosives, etc.
다른 친구를 만나기로 했던 장소인 SM CITY STA.MESA 쇼핑몰에 도착했어요. 필리핀은 치안에 대한 불안이 있어서 큰 건물에는 폭약 등을 감시하는 X-RAY 장치와 경비원들이 있어요.
We went to the food court in the shopping mall. Jollibee is a representative fast food restaurant called 'McDonald's of the Philippines'. Actually, I haven't tried it, but there's always a long line, so I could realize the popularity in the Philippines.
저희는 쇼핑몰에 있는 푸드코트에 갔는데요. Jollibee는 필리핀의 맥도날드라고 불리는 대표적인 패스트푸드 전문점이에요. 사실 먹어보지는 않았는데, 항상 긴 줄이 있어서 필리핀 현지에서의 인기를 실감할 수 있었어요.
My Filipino friends liked Korean K-pop culture, so they were very interested in Korean food also. They decided to order Bibimbob(Bibimbab). Bibimbob means mixed rice with other ingredients.
Japchae is noodle which comes from sweet potatoes, fried vegetables and meat with soy sauce. Kimbab is similar to the sushi roll, but the difference is that the sushi roll is usually Japanese food with raw ingredients. By the way, Kimbab is Korean food with warm ingredients such as ham, carrots, eggs, fish cakes, etc. cooked in oil.
제 필리핀 친구들은 한국 k-pop 문화를 좋아하는 친구들이라 한국 음식에도 관심이 많았는데요. Bibimbob를 시켜 먹기로 했어요. Bibimbob(Bibimbab)은 Mixed rice 라는 뜻으로 밥과 여러 재료들을 소스와 함께 비벼서 먹는 음식이에요.
Japchae는 고구마에서 뽑아낸 면과 각종 야채와 고기를 볶아 만드는 요리이고요. Kimbab은 sushi roll과 비슷한데, 약간 다른 점이 있다면 보통 sushi roll은 날 것의 재료를 주로 넣는 일본 음식이라면, kimbab은 기름에 조리된 햄, 당근, 계란, 어묵 등 따뜻한 재료가 주로 들어가는 한국 음식이에요.
On the contrary, I decided to try Filipino food. I bought a noodle dish with soup called Miswa and a chicken leg.
저는 반대로 필리핀 음식을 먹어보기로 했는데요. Miswa라는 국물이 있는 면 요리와 치킨 다리를 하나 샀어요.
I've never seen a drink before. The Sarsi was coke. Real leaf putcy is iced tea, eight o'clock is orange-flavored drink. Sarsi tasted a little different from what I've ever had.
음료수는 처음 보는 것들이 있었는데, sarsi는 콜라였고요. real leaf futcy는 아이스티, eight o' clock은 오렌지맛 음료수에요. Sarsi는 그동안 마셔본 것들과는 약간 다른 맛의 콜라였어요.
Actually, I wanted to taste a lot of different dishes, so I ordered two more noodles. The noodle I ordered was more delicious than I thought. As expected, the soup was warm and delicious.
사실 여러가지 맛보고 싶어서 면요리를 2개 더 시켰어요. 생각했던 것보다 주문한 면요리가 아주 맛있었는데요. 역시 국물도 따뜻하고 맛이 깊어서 좋았던 것 같아요.
At the end, We moved to a different place and drank beer. Since the Philippines is a hot country, they usually put ice in it and San Miguel beer is popular. I ordered light because I prefer light beer rather than heavy one.
Actually, my friends know a lot of K-pop, so they wanted to go to karaoke with me. I don't really like karaoke, so We just had dinner and went to my friend's relative's house to sleep.
마지막은 장소를 옮겨서 맥주를 마셨어요. 필리핀은 더운 나라이기 때문에 주로 얼음을 같이 넣어서 주고요, San miguel 맥주가 인기가 좋다고 하더라고요. 저는 무거운 것보다는 가벼운 맥주가 좋아서 light를 주문했어요.
사실 친구들은 kpop도 많이 알고 있어서 저랑 노래방에 가고 싶어했는데요. 제가 노래방을 별로 안 좋아해서 그냥 저녁만 먹고, 만났던 친구의 친척 집에 가서 자기로 합니다.
