Hive offers a lot of benefits over web2 platforms - and those who try it, love it. And what's better than trying to explain these benefits is giving users an easy way to experience it themselves. But like with any web3 app, the first step is setting up a wallet.
Even at meetups, when we would walk interested travelers through the Hive account creation in person, not everyone was ready to give it a try: Blockchain? Crypto? Sounds scammy. Saving 5 long passwords and never losing them? Installing a browser extension? Too complicated.
If we couldn't convince people in person to give it a try, then how could we get users, who come to TravelFeed through Google and other web2 platforms, to finish the account creation process?
With this in mind, we redesigned TravelFeed to allow sign-ups with email and social logins. Since then, posting on TravelFeed has been possible without a Hive account and web2-content lives alongside web3-content.
This has been a hit and we have seen accelerated growth in our user numbers. And once users are familiar with using TravelFeed, we inform them about the benefits of converting their existing TravelFeed account into a Hive account.
So far, we would send our users to signup.hive.io to create a Hive account. Many did - but far from everyone. Maybe we didn't explain the process well enough. But mainly, we believe this is because the process of creating a Hive account and linking it to TravelFeed wasn't easy enough for users new to web3.
Now, we're excited to announce the addition of free Hive account creation right from our dashboard.
Shortly after publishing their first post, users will receive an email and a dashboard notification with instructions and benefits of creating a free Hive account.
There are only two steps. In the first step, users learn what Hive is (a simplified introduction) and choose a username. In the second step, they will save their keys.
All done! The account is created with a posting authority granted to TravelFeed. This means that without changes in how TravelFeed works, posts, comments and votes are automatically posted to Hive, and interactions from other Hive frontends are shown on TravelFeed.Β
We provide users with resources to learn more about Hive. Even if they don't want to learn more right away, they will see rewards accumulate and receive comments from other Hive users - and that will spark their curiosity to explore more of the Hive ecosystem.
By making Hive account creation easier and fully integrated into TravelFeed, we are encouraging more people to explore the benefits of decentralized blogging.
Good to know: Using the same standard as Hiveonboard, if you refer someone to TravelFeed using the link from your dashboard and they create a Hive account through us, you will be set as referrer - great if you're collecting badges.
Simple Login with HiveAuth π
For existing Hive users, we also have an update: We're making access even easier with HiveAuth! Whether you're scanning the QR code or tapping it on your smartphone, authentication through the Hive Keychain and HiveAuth apps is now seamlessly integrated. Of course, we continue to support login with Hive Keychain and Hivesigner.
wow didn't expect to see this coming, very well done.
Great news! Easier account creation will attract more users. π€
Great Job wish I could do that on your platform! π
