What's up travelmaniacs! I hope you are doing well today in your travel stories! For today's travel story, I'm going to share my experience in seeing the biggest sandwiches I've ever seen in Ormoc City.

It was May of 2018, and I have a heavy travel schedule over a 5-day span. One of my destinations in my 5-day road/sea travel is Ormoc City in Leyte. My purpose in Ormoc is to meet the cryptocurrency community and educate them about the real use cases of Bitcoin and other cryptos.

**Here's what happened during my first to third day of my 5-day heavy road/sea trip. **

The Cross of Magellan in Cebu

Day 1: From Bacolod to Cebu, I have to take a bus ride for approximately 7 to 8 hours via Don Salvador Benedicto. The fare is around P600 or $12.00 (inclusive of ferry ride and terminal fee) for a one-way ride from Bacolod South Ceres Terminal to San Carlos City Port. This route along is approximately 2 1/2 hours.

We've wait around 30 minutes at the waiting lounge of the port before going to the barge. It took me approximately 2 hours to reach the Toledo port. Once we reached the port, we head back to our respective bus and travel another 2 hours to the Cebu terminal.

I just forgot the name of the hostel I checked in though, as it cannot be found in my Booking.com history. I didn't do much except bonding with friends at the Yellow Cab Pizza at the Ayala Center Cebu. I roamed around a bit, eat some dinner and went back to hostel to rest early for tomorrow's trip.

Arrived at the Ormoc City for the first time

Day 2: I woke up around 7 A.M. and check out early to catch up the OceanJet from the Cebu port to Ormoc City. The reason I was early is because lots of people are queuing during day time. Good thing for me that I was so early, and I have no problem with the queue. The duration of my travel from Cebu to Ormoc is approximately 3 hours. I left around 9:30 A.M. and arrived exactly 12:30 P.M. I ride on a tricycle going to my hotel, and I just realized that it's just a few blocks away from the port.

The hotel I've booked in Ormoc was Oriental Pension Plaza. During the time I wasn't a Genius member yet of Booking.com, it cost me around P700 or $14.00. Now that I'm already a Genius member, I checked the price and it's only P495 or close to $10.00. The airconditioned hotel room was good for two persons, and it was so neat and tidy, and the bathroom as well. Unfortunately I didn't have any photos of the hotel room.

After checking in to the hotel, I showered and getting myself prepared for my cryptocurrency meetup with the community. The venue that we have is Bistro BAI, and I ride a tricycle going there.

In Bistro BAI, there's a dining room and a big room for live bands. Before starting off with the program, I ordered some frappe and chit-chat a bit while waiting for the others to come. As I checked the big side which is for live bands, I'm absolutely surprised about their setup, especially the food!

Giant hamburger with fries (sliced into 8 pieces)

Giant hotdog sandwich with fries and pitcher of drinks (sliced to 8 pieces)

A couple of ham and cheese pizzas (sliced to 8 pieces each)

I've never seen anything like this before. Way beyond than giant sized hamburgers and hotdog sandwiches with french fries? And they've ordered like three each along with ham and cheese pizzas with drinks in pitcher? Man! They've prepared a lot for us in this event!

What a setup! A projector screen at the top? And musical instruments on stage?

Some of the cryptocurrency community who organized this event where I'm their guest speaker, are actually bandmates. It means that after my speaking session, they will be having a special performance for all of us. Anyways, let's start off with the program, shall we?

Our emcee for the day!

This is me as their guest speaker. The one who took this using my camera? We’ll it’s kinda blurry.

Our guests for today are enjoying those giant-sized burgers, hotdog sandwiches, pizzas and drinks!

Enjoyin’ their special performance!

Pictorial with the Ormoc cryptocurrency community

To be honest, I'm definitely overwhelmed on what they have prepared for me and the special guests. I'm truly amazed and I wanna go back here one day to meet them again. After educating them about cryptocurrency, our day's not done yet. Two of the bandmates joined me in the dinner at Bistro BAI, and we are just sharing our experiences and opportunities in cryptocurrency. I didn't remember exactly what I have ordered in our dinner though, maybe some friend chicken? Hmmm.....

After our dinner, we had a walk to a karaoke bar, which is just a few blocks away. I also forgot the name of the karaoke bar, and we enjoyed some beer, finger foods and singing!

Singin’ together with the Ormoc community!

Cheers everybody!

After spending a few hours at the karaoke bar, it's time for us to rest. One of the bandmates offered me a ride back to the Oriental Pension Plaza with his motorcycle. I thanked all of them for welcoming me to Ormoc City, and also their extraordinary way of preparing the event with those giant-sized sandwiches (which are sliced to eight pieces each). I immediately rest because of alcohol intolerance, in which I have red flushes in my body.

Chillin’ out somewhere in Mango Square Cebu

Day 3: I checked out from the Oriental Pension Plaza Hotel and decided to walk few blocks to the port instead of riding a tricycle. I'm getting used to walk a lot anyway. I left Ormoc City around 9 A.M. and arrived to Cebu City in noontime.

I ride a taxi to the hostel I've booked via Booking.com, but unfortunately it didn't appear anymore in my history of bookings. I totally forgot the name of it, but I remember that it's one of the most affordable. After checking in, I ride a Grab Car going to the Mango Square Cebu and just eat some snacks and roam around.

I was suppose to meet my cute and beautiful female best friend, Jean. We call each other as "besh" or "beshie". It may sound like feminine, but it's also applicable to men with female best friends. Unfortunately, she didn't continue to meetup with me because she was not feeling well that time, and I completely understand her.

After spending some time at the Mango Square Cebu, I booked a Grab Car again and strolled around the Cebu IT Park at night time.

The Pyramid restaurant

After spending time walking around the Cebu IT Park and have some frappe at the Sulbing Dessert Cafe, I head back to my hostel and need some rest. However, to be honest, I'm not comfortable because there was no aircon and only one ceiling fan.

You know what happens next because of being uncomfortable in my hostel room? Stay tuned for Part 2!
