I still can´t believe how many good StreeArt I´ve found on our latest trip up the east coast till cairns and back. First there was nothing and there where so many good ones. I´ll tell you later how I´ve found them.
Let´s have a look first at that awesome painting I got for this weeks CCC´s Street Art Contest #156. That amazing and huge mural was done by the australian artist James Giddy. It shows three Kookaburra sitting on a tree. The painting is really big and you need to go on the other side of the street to get the full picture of it.
I love these birds and I also love huge murals that spread over a whole wall. I couldn´t stop looking at this one and to take a few more shots from different angles.
We only had booked one night in a motel in Townsville when we were on our way back home. Since I was driving the whole time I only wanted to get a good sleep and get back on the road again. During check in my girlfriend shows mw this map that was laying at the reception. Jackpot!! I immidiatelly decided that we have to do that tour first in the morning before we continue our way home.
It comes with a barcode to download a app as well as some useful info about the artists.
Australian artist, James Giddy is
heavily inspired by the French painting
technique of en plein air, revolving his
practice around themes concerning
the unknown and environmental
conservation. Giddy's artwork titled,
Collective, depicts native kookaburras
in an impressionistic-realist style. This
mural provides a welcoming familiarity
and reminds the viewer how closely
nature interacts with their everyday life.
From today on I will try to pin the location from every streetart I find on pinmapple so that maybe one day, if you´re nearby you can check it out yourself.
