CCC's Street Art Contest Round 173 - When Architects Do Street Art Part 2

in StreetArtlast year (edited)

Welcome street art lovers. We welcome Round 173 of the CCC's Street Art Contest hosted by @digi-me. If you still haven't heard about this yet, check out the contest post here. Do read up and join us in the fun.

Last month I did a post about architecture students doing street art. For those who missed this and would like to see it here's the link. I titled the post "When Architects Do Street Art." As a brief background, I happened to pass a public school a few months ago whose wall was being painted by some young people who turned out to be architecture students. I showed photos of what they painted which were mostly about homes and abodes of our country's ancestral tribes. But these students did not only paint the different kinds of dwellings of our ancestors. They actually painted some of the tribe folks as well. So this Part 2 is about showcasing the artistic talents of architecture students aside from their structural aptitudes.

First off is this tribal woman, probably from the Maranao tribe of Zamboanga and Jolo which is in the southern most part of the Philippines.

I was also fortunate to have taken a picture while this street art was being painted. Here it is.

The next photo is that of either a tribal warrior or a sea-faring tribesman as indicated by the pole he is holding which could be a spear used for war or fishing. I would say this man is part of the Tausugs, a tribe found in Mindanao, Philippines.

These seafaring people sail towards the open sea in small wooden boats with outriggers called the "vinta" which have colorful square sails.

Here's another tribesman, probably from the south, called Bagobos.

A royal or rich matriarch of the tribe.

It does look like architecture students know more than just structures and buildings. They can do art as well and show them in contrasting effects. Black and white for the subject and colorful background to make the subject stand out more. Great job.

And that's it for this post. Hope you liked it. Good luck to all the other participants. Stay safe everyone and may you all have a blessed weekend ahead 💞
