Street Art Supplies. Belgrade June 22

in StreetArt2 years ago

It was a hot afternoon, very hot, but I wasn't getting ripped off by a local taxi driver again, once a day is enough.

So using a little app I was told about called HERE WeGo I was able to follow a route back into the city. It is a handy app; once you have downloaded the map you require you can use it offline without wifi and without using data roaming. The best bit for a luddite like me is you need no special IT skills. Switch it on: switch it off. Even I can do that.

About 3 miles in walking along Višnjička, I noticed across the road some special street art. Well I say across the road, that road was a fucking busy dual carriageway, which unlike "frogger" from the good old days I managed to navigate without getting squashed.

At first I just thought that it was some shop walls that had been very very artistically decorated

At first I didn't see some rather scruffy bloke gesturing at me, when I did I thought he was basically telling me to "fuck off of my land",

"Ok, Ok I am going" and as I turned away, he grabbed me by the arm, my instant thought was.

"Aw shit I am gonna have to punch his teeth out"
or:
"Run like fuck"

In the end, neither, as he just wanted my attention and was gesturing towards the door and smiling and nodding. Well Ok I thought lets have a look, smiling back and pointing as I walked over, the "Fight or Flight" adrenaline surge dissipating.

I am glad I entered, now the young girl inside, probably would not expect some old fart to appear and she was slightly startled, as I was mesmerised, not by her stunning good looks , but the shop. She spoke no English and disappeared into "the back", never to return. Replaced by some 40 something tattooed hipster.

He had a marginally better command of the english language than your average inhabitant of Liverpool, and I got to understand that he and his partner had put the place together and was not yet open for business. He was Ok with me snapping away and I told him that his shop would be the subject of a Hive Blog.

Vacant stare.

I asked for a business card or headed notepaper

Vacant Stare

I carried on snapping away and asked yes I did, for a facebook or instachatagram account,(shame on you Mr G, lowering your standards) he smiled and went into "the back", never to be seen again.

So anyways he was obviously very trusting leaving me there, or his partner in crime had distracted him, easily done.

A few more snaps and I couldn't hang about it was getting near tea time and I needed a macadees after my afternoons exertions

I was seriously amazed at the range of colours on offer.

These last two, surely they are too good to be used, in presentation boxes???

Now at the time of writing 1k Serbian Dinar is equivalent to about seven quid in the UK, so the far right works out at £85... surely that must be for more than one can, otherwise this business will be ended before it has begun.

It was a very interesting shop, the like of which I have never seen before anywhere on my travels.

Good luck fella: fuck amazon

Wow, this indeed was an interesting shop and the price, well, not cheap. Too bad they didn't know about Hive haha, should find this shop if in my next visit to Serbia and repeat in the shop the name Hive, to see if they would remember it 😂

I bet you get a vacant look !!!

Most probably!

Nobody has heard of HIVE, I don't bother anymore!

ah, good point, well made. I read a lot of posts on here from "infliencial" bloggers, is there disenchantment with the project? Is the death knell sounding?

Is the death knell sounding?

No, but on-boarding is simply too complicated and everyone wants to know ... 'how can I get the money'.., all very tedious so I won't promote it anymore.

ah yes the money baggers, two silly women spring to mind,

Wowwww but this was a marvel of a find. And to think I was preparing you to hand out fists hahahahaha and what a surprise.

Every painting is great, and the store inside a dream for street art lovers. What more could you ask for.

I was happy after seeing this.

Beautiful day to you @grindle
