RENDO is an acclaimed graphic artist, a young man from Bogotá who currently resides in Medellín and, at 30 years old, already has an extensive career. His artistic contribution is undoubtedly one of the most valuable in the city. This year, he participated in the city's urban art festival, presenting an immense work, RENDO HERE. In addition to being a large-scale work, the location he chose to display his work is also noteworthy; I believe that nothing in his work is improvised—it was undoubtedly a well-made decision. On this occasion, the center of the city of Medellín and the columns of the San Antonio metro station allowed RENDO to be a giant, three-dimensional child.

This work is an extension of his brand, the essence he has managed to establish. His works are composed of multiple elements that combine typography, space, time, and matter as a means of revealing his inner child. Rendo states that his “work” is the visual narrative of a child who can design and live his own imagined reality. He founded Rendo Industries, a holding company that serves as a laboratory to incubate his other brands, collaborations with leading companies, and original immersive exhibitions.

When I write about urban art, it is inevitable, even essential, to talk about the artist because one depends on the other; they are the necessary complement to the art in question, and even more so when it comes to street art. Rendo undeniably seeks out public spaces, seeking the human gaze; his work is visibly a replica of a child's imagination, which, as an adult, he has managed to preserve in his heart, and that is magnificent. Like every child, he wants to play big, and that is why he gives his art three dimensions, but he does not cease to be mature, to be an adult, in formalizing his lines and colors. The elements on display are fundamental pieces of play, elements of home and environment; it gives me the feeling of seeing a big kid playing with huge colored cubes, putting together a piece of art, a piece of life. Today, RENDO gave me a moment from my childhood, that incredible place that lasts so little and that many do not remember, for me a masterpiece of love, childhood, and art.
