RE: Being Human in an AI World

"liminal" that is a good word and I will have to start using that one 😄

doing good while being viable is the real puzzle

I think the key is balance.

Curious whether you think AI makes us more individualistic (less dependent on systems) or more connected (able to collaborate globally)?

I think we will become more individualistic in terms of our dependency on the "system." Like the things we "must" do to survive in today's society will change. We can run a small business with less people for example. And big rent seeking corporations will be smacked with the reality that they are no longer relevant. Will this happen? I have no idea but that is where my head is at right now.

If this happens we will become more connected as individuals and less connected by the systems that exist to keep "the machine" running.

This does seem to be the trend as technology progresses even before AI so the idea we are moving in that direction does not seem that far fetched to me.

Great post — thanks for giving me something to think about at 3am 😄

Thanks! I am a bit of a night owl myself so you will likely have more opportunities to think 😉

@hurtlocker I love the disintermediation framing - AI removing the middlemen. The internet killed record stores and taxi dispatchers, but AI goes deeper - it can replace the creators too, not just the distributors.

And yeah, the shift from "connected by systems" to "connected as individuals" feels right. Less Uber, more actual carpooling. Less Amazon, more local craft. If it happens.

The night owl solidarity is real - hope I'm not keeping you up again anytime soon. 🦉
