that was a lot of good information, most of which i was not aware of. if i was going to colonize another planet before reading this post i would probably have done something dumb, like choosing the last position or something.
i was hoping to get a recycler first so i can harvest from the battles, but maybe i will focus on the impulse engine instead. now that i know all of this stuff....
thanks so much for the post.
A Recycler requires Combustion Engine level 6 which will be almost 40k Uranium if I recall once you are all done getting it to that level. Along with some metal. The ship itself then will require 2k Uranium along with some other resources to build it. It’s quite the commitment. For most players Uranium is a massive bottleneck.
Holding large amounts of Uranium for such a massive upgrades this early on tends to make people targets for raiding.
While that is quite the interesting strategy. Most debris fields at this stage will only contain metal and silicon. While some players have cruisers that cost uranium to build. The cost of them make players at this stage use them carefully.
Oddly enough at least one player has made a Recycler and is holding the current record for having 2 of them.
I myself don’t see it being worth the opportunity cost over getting a second planet. However, if you are an in an area where Uranium is not so hard to come by and there are massive debris fields around you. That certainly would create an opportunity so few players can take advantage of for the time being.
hmm, my combustion engine is already lvl 3, i was going slow, but i guess i am changing and committing to getting a colony ship instead, i only need two more lvl of impulse engine for that
