We've just passed the halfway point of the Splinterlands 5th Anniversary DEC burn event. At this time, over 362M DEC has be burned. DEC-B has just over 159.5M burned, but there's some caveats when looking at these tokens. First, during the DEC-B sale, you got a 20% bonus to DEC burned, so in actuality that 159.5M is closer to 132.9M DEC burned. Second, much of that DEC-B was obtained by burning Vouchers and had no effect on the total circulating DEC. Third, The DEC that was used to get DEC-B is already burned, so you can't count it both then and now.
Now, there's still another 14 days left to burn your DEC but I suspect the majority of the burn is already complete. This is due in large part to the prizes that will be raffled off at the end of the event. Going on a decaying point based system, the DEC you burn is worth more points the early you burn it. Thus on Day 1, each DEC earned 3 points, today, the DEC is worth 1.97 points, and on the last day it will be worth 1 point.
That's not to say there won't be any last minute DEC being burned, especially from those on the cusp of obtaining a top 10 leaderboard reward. At this moment, only 3M DEC separates 10th and 11 place. That's a lot by my standards, but these players have already donated 28M and 25M respectively, and the difference in prize is 10 Land Plots. Likewise, 7th and 8th place are only separated by 1.5M DEC, and the difference is 10 vs. 25 Land Plots. So I do anticipate some last minute donations as groups and players jostle for final rankings, but again I do think the bulk of the DEC that will be burned, has already been burned.
Now, let's get to those brawls...
Battle #1 - Win
Ruleset - Lost Magic / Earthquake / Taking Sides
In this matchup, it looks like my opponent just doesn't have enough gold foil cards to fill out their lineup. With no Magic or Neutral cards allowed, they only play 17 mana worth of cards (including the summoner) in a match that allows up to 46. On the flip side, I play a total of 43 mana, more than doubling theirs. Is it possible to win playing less mana? Of course, but you're putting yourself at a disadvantage, especially when the difference is as great as it is here.
Battle #2 - Win
Ruleset - Taking Sides / Lost Legendaries / Wands Out
While it's possible my opponent just didn't have any more Gold Foil Water Magic cards like the previous match, it's much more likely that I've run into a defective Brawl bot. I'll happily take my free win, though I very much disagree with bots in brawls.
Battle #3 - Loss
Ruleset - Lost Magic / Little League / Reverse Speed
My first real fight this brawl, and I take the loss. Looking back, my damage output is too scattered, and thanks to little league, too low. The ones attacking Antoid Platoon are too weak to get through it's Shield ability, then I have one Sneak attack the back, and a Snipe attack Scavo Firebolt. Definitely not a good lineup for this one.
Battle #4 - Win
Opponent Fled
Just like with my first 2 fights, I'll happily take my free win here. Don't let your guildmates down! If you sign up for a brawl, be sure to show up.
I'm extremely happy with finishing 3-1. Although all 3 of my wins were handed to me, each win matters in order to get the best placement we can and earn the most SPS and Merits possible. This is Play2Earn at it's finest, with an element of teamwork and camaraderie. We each rely on one another to get the most rewards possible.
