After the peaceful rescue of a zebra, Jerry received news of Ellie's arrival. Despite Marlene's hesitation over the lethal surgery, Abby encouraged her father to proceed. However, the hospital was soon attacked, and Abby discovered her father's body. Years later, after killing Joel, Abby spared Ellie and Tommy's lives.
Abby and Owen ran after Jerry last time. All of them found the injured mother zebra near her newborn cub, and they were happy seeing this. It was a rare, beautiful moment of life and renewal in a world that had seen so much death and destruction over the years.
Then Owen gave Jerry the news of Ellie reaching their hospital, who was needed to make the vaccine they were looking for. This surprised both Jerry and Abby, so they walked towards St. Mary's Hospital with a renewed sense of purpose and hope for the future.
The next scene showed us Jerry having a conversation with Marlene, where Jerry confirmed they would have to sacrifice Ellie to make this vaccine. Marlene was not really happy with this decision, as she had promised to protect the girl years ago after her mother died.
When Jerry was trying to convince Marlene, suddenly Abby came over with snacks and she heard the part where Marlene asked Jerry what he would do if it was Abby. Jerry fell silent, unable to answer, but Marlene eventually agreed to let the surgery proceed for humanity.
Marlene left the room and then the father and daughter had a little chat. Abby ended it saying she would want him to do the surgery if it was her. She wanted to ease his conscience, letting him know she supported the sacrifice for the sake of the world.
The next moment was Abby holding her sidearm when the hospital had this alarm activated and I had to run towards the operating room as her. The red lights flashed against the walls as I sprinted through the corridors, fearing the worst for the father's safety.
Abby found her dad dead in the operating room. Thanks to Joel and me, we shot him down because he tried to stop Joel from taking Ellie away. The room was cold and sterile, now stained with the blood of the only man who could save the world.
Owen stopped Abby and tried to convince her to stay strong, but she could not hold on seeing her dad lying dead in front of her eyes. She cried out loud.
The next scene was when they killed Joel brutally. Last time I saw this scene from Ellie's perspective, but this time it was from their perspective. Some people wanted to kill Ellie and Tommy as well to leave no witnesses, but Abby let them live.
