Ellie went back to St. Mary's Hospital two years earlier, searching for any truth behind what happened the day Joel saved her. She discovered medical notes, a Firefly bag, and a tape recorder explaining their failure.
When Joel found her, Ellie demanded honesty. Joel finally admitted the vaccine would have killed her, which broke their bond.

It's a flashback from two years back. After exploring the Dinosaur Zoo, Ellie decided to get back to St. Mary's Hospital to look for any hint about what really happened there.

The last time I was here, I was playing as Joel and I was clearing the hospital of fireflies because I had to save this girl who came back to find any clue to be shown the man.

I started looking around in some cabins, and when Ellie was getting frustrated, I found some scan reports of her in 606 number cabin. Someone wrote about the update of Ellie's mutation, wishing the test results would support their theory.

Then I went for the red room, the surgery room, where Ellie almost lost her life. I went inside and found the same bed where she was laid when Joel went to save her.

There was this bag with a Firefly logo on it. I found a tape recorder inside that Ellie played. And the first thing she heard was, "I don't know which group I'm going to join..."

The speaker was one of the ones that wanted to go after the smuggler and the girl. They said even if they found her or by some miracle found someone else that's immune, it would make no difference because the only person who could develop a vaccine was dead.

When Ellie came to a conclusion after hearing the record, Joel came in searching for her, and he seemed tense as Ellie came out here without informing anyone.

Then Ellie asked Joel what happened there. Before Joel could reply, Ellie warned him that she would disappear if he lied to her one more time. But she would go back to Jackson if he told her the truth, no matter what it was.

Zula understood Eli was damn serious this time, so he started spilling the truth. He said making a vaccine would have killed her, so he stopped them.

Then Ellie started sobbing and crying as if someone close to her died recently. I didn't really understand the emotion behind this part. Of course, that was the right thing to do, what Joel did.

Joel tried to calm her down, but then she asked him not to dare touch her again. She mentioned she would go back, but they are done.
We'll check what happens next in another post.

You narrated Ellie's investigation with a clear emotional rhythm, which made it easy to follow her state of mind. And, you handled the emotional chapter with a steady, calm tone. Well done 💪
I wanted it to feel steady without losing the tension of the moment. And I'm glad the rhythm came through.
I'm glad you invited me to check this one, the way you described Ellie exploring the hospital made the whole moment vivid. The emotional drama here could power a whole side story of its own. Like Joel could get banished with anger and Ellie would go looking for her next, hahaha.
That would actually make a pretty wild side story. Ellie chasing after an angry, exiled Joel, lol.
