The Battle of Thermopylai starts Assassin's Creed Odyssey where King Leonidas of Sparta led the battle himself with thousands of his spartan warriors and the one plays this game gets to play as the king which means I also got the chance to take part in this battle as King Leonidas and the man in the thumbnail you see is him.
This is the moment when I got to see the king for the first time in this game which had the context to let the gamer know about the battle (Battle of Thermopylai), the battle year (480 BCE) and the name of the king (King Leonidas) and there was his bodyguard with him. We see the king was an old guy at that moment and I didn't think this old guy would fight so fine at this age.
At that moment when the bodyguard Dienekes was reporting that they were ready, the king was asking if he ever gone fishing with his son where the bodyguard replied in negative and the king then said he would have like to have gone fishing with his son.
This is the look of the enemy ships. It looks like hundreds of enemy ships were surrounding Spartan in the dark.
And there the king with his army waited on their land for the enemy to come forward after giving a good speech towards the Spartans soldiers and from that very moment, the king started showing his wrath.
With the spear and armor, he was making hole on some ones body and then I was choking some to death with bare hand leaving the armor down which showed how strong the king was.
While I was busy battling the normal soldiers there, the king noticed the enemy king who was a big man smashing Spartans so Leonidas jumped over him and took him to another land where I got to fight the other king a the Spartan king and there I had to take each step carefully as the other king was so strong.
After killing the enemy king, Leonidas returned to the battlefield and noticed his warriors almost finishing off the enemy soldiers and at that very moment, a spartan soldier came to the king taking a Persian soldier who betrayed the Spartans.
The king punished the traitor in this way when he (the traitor) was talking about the king losing his bloodline to the enemies whom the traitor sold the path behind the mountain.
Leonidas: Today was a day that the Persians will never forget. Tomorrow is a day the world will remember.
The battle ended at that very moment and the next scene introduced us Dr. Victoria and Layla where Layla has found a spear just like the one you can see in the above picture and Layla is the one in this game who will walk us through the animus and let us be an assassin.
