The Hiss Trap.

I survived a Hiss ambush in Central Executive, defeating a tough assault soldier after an initial setback. Cleansing the Control Point caused the architecture to shift back to normal. I then made contact with Emily Pope, who recognized me as the Director and emerged from the shelter to help.

After I rushed into the Central Executive area, the sight of more floating bodies hanging in the air warned me that the Hiss was still deeply rooted around. I leaped down into the main chamber, which appeared empty at first. The silence was unsettling, making me feel like I was walking right into a trap.

My instincts were right. As soon as I hit the floor, a group of Hiss-corrupted enemies materialized and opened fire from multiple angles. I immediately began returning fire with my Service Weapon.

The battle took a turn for the worse when a specialized Hiss soldier armed with an assault rifle pinned me down. He was much more aggressive and accurate than the others, and before I could find a better angle, he overwhelmed my health and took me down.

Upon returning for the second attempt, I changed my tactics. I made sure to keep my distance from that assault rifle soldier, focusing all my energy on clearing out the smaller grunts first so I wouldn't be surrounded.

Once he was the only threat remaining, I took charge. I realized that if I kept a steady stream of fire on him, I could break through his defenses. I unloaded the Service Weapon into him until he finally collapsed.

With the room clear, I approached the Control Point. Jesse reached out to cleanse the area, and as she channeled her power, the red Hiss resonance began to fade. It felt like the very air in the chamber was being purified.

The cleansing caused the entire room to shift and reconfigure. The brutalist architecture groaned as walls moved and structures realigned themselves, returning the Central Executive to its normal state.

Just as the room settled, I heard a voice crackling through a nearby intercom. It was coming from the safe room shelter. I ran toward the heavy metal door, eager to find someone who wasn't trying to kill me.

I interacted with the intercom and spoke to Emily Pope, who was Dr. Darling's assistant. She sounded relieved to hear a human voice, but surprised me by immediately referring to Jesse as the new Director.

She mentioned she was coming out to meet, finally giving us a chance to piece together what happened to this place.
