I interrupted my quest to save a civilian from Mongol torture, initiating a brutal standoff and a hard fight. After a difficult duel with a heavy shieldman under the moonlight, I rescued the peasant. He revealed that the nearby Old Trading Post was being used for further atrocities.

Gaming Photography Weekly Contest.

I was going for a quest and ignoring all the battles on my way, till I stopped after seeing Mongols torturing a civilian. I didn't know saving that peasant would give me a side quest.

I went for a standoff against a big Mongol. He came to face me and you can see how his face was going for the mud when his comrades were just staring from afar.

I ran and jumped to kick one of those Mongols. It looked like they were twins because of their faces and costumes; while I kicked one, the other just waited for his turn.

Obviously, they didn't die from the kick alone. I had to use my blade through the throats of both of them before the hardest enemy approached, carrying a massive shield and a sword.

I was wondering how that man was carrying such a big shield while swinging his sword so fast. I had to dodge his attacks constantly so I didn't get killed in the encounter.

I tried to attack him after dodging, but it looked like he was not taking enough damage. I changed my stance to counter his shield, and this time I did much better.

This photo shows how the big man was falling down. I really liked the moonlight in that scene as I was staring at the enemy going down into the tall grass.

I noticed there was a Mongol who didn't die yet but was suffering on the ground. I ended his suffering by stabbing him in the back to clear the area.

I rescued the peasant, who told me it was not safe because Mongols were taking civilians to the Old Trading Post. He explained they were taking people there mostly to torture them.

I decided to check on the Mongol territory named Old Trading Post, which was not far from me. Upon reaching it, I climbed some rocks to survey the area before getting inside.

This rescue felt very powerful and emotional. Jin Sakai stepping in to save the peasant shows his true samurai spirit. The true samurai never lets his people down.

Well said. Moments like that are what make Jin such a memorable character. Though it was me who went for it, lol.

The fight with the heavy shieldman sounds very challenging. Changing your stance to break his defense was a perfect move. The moonlight during the battle made the scene look beautiful and dramatic.

Yeah, those shield-men can drag the fight out. I'm glad the moonlit scene stood out to you.

The story becomes a side quest after saving the civilian, making the game more interesting. Now going to the Old Trading Post to stop more torture adds more purpose and emotion to the journey.

Good observation. It made the trip to the Old Trading Post feel much more important.

Those heavy shieldmans can be a real pain if you do not have the right stance unlocked. I loved how the moonlight highlighted the action in your photos.

That's very true, those shield guys can be stubborn. And yeah, the moonlight made that moment look great.

Your timing for that standoff shot was perfect. The way that enemy was going down after the stand-off, is incredible.

Honestly, I was hoping someone would point that out. That timing made the scene look amazing.
