Raker presented the Guardians to the Matriarch, who was revealed to be Nikki. When Peter confronted her, she used an Infinity Stone to bend reality, sending him back to the day his mother died. Reliving his past, Peter gets a second chance to fight off the aliens and save her.
Raker, the Grand Unifier, brought the Guardians of the Galaxy as the Matriarch requested for. And not just Peter, I was also surprised to see Nikki as the Matriarch.
Nikki smiled at Peter as if her normal self was still in there. So Peter suggested he would get her out of there. But she asked, isn't that where they were supposed to be? And she added that they were going to save everybody, she promised.
Peter mentioned Nikki was saying what Raker wanted her to say, which pissed off Raker. So the guardians were prepared for a fight, but Peter asked everyone to cool down.
Gamora mentioned Nikki was clearly not herself. And then Nikki replied, Of course she was, and she is more than just her. And the troops around her were calmed after that.
Peter asked Nikki about her mom and she said her mom is right there with her, inside her. But when Peter was questioning, she got pissed. And she claims no one listens to her until she shows them.
So she decided to show them and it looked like she used an infinity stone to change reality for Peter and took him back to his childhood time.
Peter was there on the day when his mother died, but he still had a chance to save his mother as she was still struggling to survive.
When he was a kid, he used the stairs to get out, but this time he jumped out the window to save his dear mom.
Peter had the same weapon as a kid, but he was unable to save his mother as he was not strong enough against those aliens. But this time, he seemed strong enough to save his mom.
