Hunting the King of the Savannah | theHunter: Call of the Wild

in Gaming Photography16 hours ago

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Time for more hunts! Last time I was hunting in the cold and harsh Siberian map of Medved-Taiga, and today I had a stark change to the warm plains of Vurhonga Savannah. I had so many beautiful moments in this session. I captured some of them. Let me share what happened today as I tried to hunt some of the biggest predators in the game, the king of the jungle, the Lion.

It was a beautiful morning in the vast, empty plains of the savannah. The sun was just rising as I logged in to the game. This is my favourite time to play on this map. The golden rays falling over the dried vegetation of these plains make for a great composition.

My first victim was a small female Pronghorn who happened to be very hungry that it didn't even notice our presence, even when we were close enough. It had to die...right? I am just doing nature's job. If it didn't notice me, how will it notice a hungry lion? xD

I loved the new rifle I was using. The .300 Magnum was too powerful for this little creature. Poor guy just died on the spot.

The sun was out now, and it looked so pretty. If it were a bit more cloudy, then the sky would look so dramatic. For now, it looked like a peaceful morning. Only my bullets were breaking that peace from time to time.

I killed another Pronghorn after a couple of minutes. This one tried to run away, and they are one of the fastest land animals. By some miracle, my bullet hit it, and that was enough. It almost managed to escape and go into the forested area.

I was in the central Savanah region. There is a big Baobab tree in here, which is part of a story mission, if I am not mistaken. It was a perfect shot opportunity.

I saw a couple of Blue Wildebeest. They noticed my presence as well, but one of them was too slow to get away. It wasn't a perfect shot, so I had to chase this one for a while. It was a gold candidate, but since I didn't hit any vital organs, all I got was a silver trophy.

It was a good start to this hunting session, but what I was looking for was something harder than this. Did I tell you that I installed a mod which improved the render distance of animals in the game from around 400 meters to 750 meters? So, it is a bit easier to spot animals now, especially in these plains with less vegetation.

After searching for a while, I found what I was looking for.

It was far enough to sense me and not too far for me not to shoot. I took the shot from about 200 meters away. It was a good shot as well, and he died quickly. The new .300 magnum is more powerful than my previous 7mm rifle.

I like those hills in the background. I have been on those, and you can see the entire plains when you are at the top.

The sun was going up very slowly; one of the unique things about this game is its long day-night cycle. Unlike Minecraft, you don't have to worry about the nighttime constantly lol. It is still faster than real time, but manageable and a great choice for a realistic hunting simulator game.

I took out another big male; he fell a bit awkwardly just close to the long grasses. This one could have attacked me easily if not for my quick reflexes. As you get closer to a lion, it can jump on you and kill you almost instantly. Their first reaction is almost always trying to flee, but when you accidentally get too close, it could be fatal for you.

I ended the session with a Gemsbok, they are one of the most beautiful creatures to roam around these plains. Look at their long, slightly curved antlers.

I waited for animals to come near a drinking spot inside a concealed hunting structure. But nobody came. I was unlucky with this spot; maybe I missed the drinking time of Gemsbok, or they know how to avoid me by now.

Until next hunt...

Kudos for surviving the lions! 😂 Looks like your .300 Magnum is doing all the talking.
