Machines of Horizon Zero Dawn in Pictures

in Gaming Photography6 hours ago

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

As the title suggests, today I am going to talk about the various kinds of machines in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. I will be showcasing them here. Horizon games have a lot of deadly machines that serve as the primary source of conflict in the game. These machines almost took out the entire humanity a few generations ago, but somehow the survivors have learned to cope with them. They banded in a primitive tribe and avoided major confrontations. The first game in the series, Zero Dawn, introduced a lot of machines, and then the second game expanded on that and introduced a lot more, along with the ones from the first one. I only have the first game.

One of the basic machines that can be found anywhere in the world is are Watcher. These roam around in small groups, mostly with other machines, and they kind of look out of those bigger machines. Serves as a guard in the game. That's why they are always scanning for threats and looking around for dangers. There is a more powerful variant of this, too, but both are fairly easy to take down.

Chargers are also found in small groups, mostly minding their own business and not actively looking out for threats. But once they notice you, they will charge you with their powerful horns, which deal a moderate amount of melee damage. They don't have a range attack and are weak against fire.

There are some flying machines in the game, too. One of the frustrating ones is Glinthawk. They can spot you from a distance, and hiding from them is quite hard. Their movements make it harder to attack as well. But they are not as common as some of the other machines.

I took this shot just after it spotted me from a distance.

Another annoying machine to take down for me is the Shell-Walkers. They have a shield to block my attacks while the other arm deals a ranged electric blast attack.

What's worse than Glinthawks, you may ask? Well, the Storm Bird! It is a giant flying machine, much bigger and stronger than Glinthawks. It takes a lot of effort to take down one such machine.

A lot of planning is involved in taking down these giant machines. You need to know their strengths and weaknesses. I love to use a stealth approach on smaller ones. It is very satisfying to take them down one by one without them noticing you.

You can override some of them and use them to travel faster. Those overridden machines can help you in combat as well.

Tallnecks are passive giants, and you can climb them and overide them to gain access to the parts of the world. Like the outposts tower, which used to survey the nearby area in other games. These are my favourite machines.

Snapmaws are like large reptiles of the machine-infested world. They are found near the water bodies, like lakes or rivers. These have a lot of health benefits and are found in small groups. But the fact that they are relatively slow, you can take them out easily.

I love this interesting world full of dangerous machines. There are many other types of machines that I didn't share today. But every biome is filled with these, and it makes the game interesting for me. I am just playing it casually, hunting these down while keeping the HUD to a minimum. It is such a good experience.

Let me know if you liked these shots and which one is your favourite.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...
