I reached Okada's lab for a new enhancement that pushed the fusion of man and machine even further. The procedure resurfaced a forgotten memory before introducing Diaz to a drone directly linked to his neural signals. With his upgraded vest equipped, Diaz was sent out to test the new setup on malfunctioning bots.
I went to the factory after finishing that side quest, and there I parked the truck outside the building. Then I had to get to Okada's lab, where he was waiting for me. Okada seemed excited, as it's not every day they get to test the existential potential of man with machine.
What they were doing was a minor tweak in comparison to the colossal leap of Diaz's initial implant surgery. Diaz asked if it's dangerous. Okada said there's always a risk, but he could assure the reward will be miraculous.
Then, after a little more chat, Okada asked Diaz to get to that special chair after getting his vest off. Then Okada mentioned Diaz will be the most advanced piece of technology in Silva's arsenal aside from the Echo-2 rocket.
Then something happened.
It looked like they were playing the past memory of Diaz that he couldn't remember. But now he remembers a part of his service life where he had to sign a paper. A soldier mentioned they should have left him in the desert after what he did, and forced him to sign it.
When Diaz was back, he was surprised to see a flying drone around him. Okada mentioned this is Diaz's drone companion. Okada mentioned that everything Diaz thinks or feels, the drone will be collecting, as Diaz's neural impulses are fed directly into its AI.
The drone requires something that can store and charge the device. So, Okada took the liberty of designing a wearable with a little more presence, knowing Diaz is very fond of the security vest.
Well, then, Okada noticed another cluster of malfunctioning bots through a CCTV cam. So he mentioned this is the perfect opportunity to test the new contraption, and Diaz was ready, wearing the upgraded vest.
