The Strike

The last week of May is going great. Still feels like the peak of summer here, while it's going to be winter in some other parts of the world. A friend from down under (Australia) is quite excited to welcome the colder season soon, saying it's her favorite time of the year.

Anyway, we had a bit of fun listening to random tunes from various artists, known and unknown. It's fun to discover something or someone new from time to time, and think loudly, "How come I'm only learning about this now?"😁

That's usually what I say whenever something interesting comes up. Although that isn't the case for today's recommendation in the Three Tune Tuesday initiative by Ablaze, since I have already encountered the independent synth-pop band before.

Tune #1:

The Strike - I Wish That You Would

Released in September 2024 as the final single of the group's album, A Dream Through Open Eyes, this electrifying yet melancholic 80s-inspired synth-pop ballad is surprisingly good. It has that high-energy, pulsing pop tune, highlighted by vibrant synth lines and a driving tempo that results in an irresistible, feel-good rhythm.

And the chorus is stuck in my head, lol!

🎵🎵 I know that love can only go so far 🎵🎵
🎵🎵 We made a promise that night in the car 🎵🎵
🎵🎵 Forever minding our manners 🎵🎵
🎵🎵 I'll never call you up 🎵🎵
🎵🎵 But I wish that you would 🎵🎵
🎵🎵 But I wish that you would 🎵🎵

Anyway, tune two is considered to be the band's most iconic track.

The Strike - Soundtrack

Another feel-good 80s-inspired tune that blends nostalgia with a contemporary pop-rock twist. It has an incredibly catchy and explosive chorus.

The song, which the group released in 2023, is rhythmic, opening up with an infectious, pulsing synthesizer line and then locking into a driving, danceable drumbeat. The band's frontman, Chris Crabb delivers soaring, optimistic vocals.

And the third tune for this week's edition, also from the same indie-pop group:

The Strike - Miles Ahead

Released in 2020, this nostalgic track features Chris Crabb's dynamic vocals, with a high-energy yet emotionally resonant sound. This is one of the band's most popular tracks, which accordingly has over 11.5 accumulated streams on Spotify.

The Strike is one of those whom I could listen to once in a while, especially when I'm just lazing around. And here ends my three for the day.
