Procrastination: A complex issue but not a death sentence.

Introduction

Procrastination is deadly and complex at the same time.
The word I will does more harm than good because a procrastinator will always say I will I will but will not get to do the task, a procrastinator doesn't see any reason for urgency or time allocation also a procrastinator always believes that there is another opportunity.

Procrastination can affect all aspect of our lives, procrastination can affect one's academic system as well as social life, personal life and many more, a procrastinator never set priority and no task is important to him.

Procrastination is complex because it's has to do with short-term mode repair and setting long-term goal and achieving it.

Types of procrastination.

A student who always believes he has more time to study for his exams and who always doesn't see the need to prepare for his class assignment is suffering from academic procrastination.

Someone who always delay in making important life decision and who always have the fear that he might make wrong decision is a decision procrastinator.

Someone who delays his official task at work leading to some miss deadlines and causing reduced productivity in the office is suffering from workplace procrastination.

Some people also suffer from lifestyle procrastination whereby they find it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes good diet frequent exercise another things that will help develop the body.

Reasons why some procrastinate.

Personally I believe that lack of accountability is the major cause of procrastination also procrastination is associated with one's emotion, psychology and environment where the person lives.

Psychologically many people think that they cannot meet up to some standard so they tend to avoid important task in life while some who have so many doubts find it very difficult to fulfill important tasks while some people lack motivation and feel irritated over a project making it difficult for them to accept reality.

Some people do not have the needed patients when it comes to long-term goals while some battle with the fear of failure, others allow anxiety to take over them they easily get depressed and quit trying instead they use the word I will

These another serious cause of procrastination.

Real life experience.

A man grew up in a family where no one feels that there is need for this man to get something doing for so many years no one encourage him to look for work rather he kept procrastinating he never saw the need or importance of working to earn, it is late 40s he got married to an industrious lady who detest procrastination so she tried so hard to encourage him but this man didn't find it easy because all his life no one encourage him to work rather they encouraged him to procrastinate.

In a nutshell our environment has a way of either encouraging us or discouraging us.

Effects of procrastination.

In all aspects procrastination has a negative effect both in workplace academic system, relationship and personal health.

A procrastinator who fails to adopt a healthy lifestyle is putting his or her life in danger and this can affect his relationship with people around him who are really concerned.

Professional procrastinator will definitely los her job and other career growth and opportunity, this lifestyle will not affect only him but also affect his colleagues and employees because it will decrease the company's productivity.

Academical procrastination leads to stress and anxiety which can affect the future of a student.

Fight against procrastination.

Some serious minded successful men today once in their life face the challenge of procrastination but they were determined and this help them to change, they took some practical steps.

Firstly they identified the factor that causes them to procrastinate which could be spending much time or needless things like social media, playing games and watching TV programs so if this is the factor it will be vital to temporary discontinue access to all those distraction.

Secondly it is very important to define what you want in life set realistic goals and work consciously on achieving those set goals create deadlines and try to meet up with the deadline.

Thirdly continuous self-assessment is very important because it helps you to know if you are really working consciously do achieve the goal you said for yourself.

It is also very important to always remember that no one will question you if you do not achieve those set goals so the goals are you achievement and your Cross.

The fourth step is to try and develop a plan that will help you manage your time wisely you can use some time management techniques like to do list and calendar, is very important to always focus on more important things.

Lastly always avoid any form of distractions, never disclose your goals to people who do not set personal goals because they would likely discourage you try as much as possible best to replace goal losers with goal getters or achievers.

Summary.

Yes procrastination is bad but it's not a death sentence, understanding the the causes, setting realistic goals, then applying self-discipline, determination consistency, a procrastinator can turn to a goal-getter instead of a goal loser.
