The Marriage Between Man And Science

in Humanitas17 days ago

When we hear about world science, most times we think it is complicated and difficult to understand. But man has been involved in science since an immoral age. Science has evolved over the ages, and I can say that each stage of human existence has been improved by science.

What is science? Let's not go overboard with its meaning. I will say that science is studying the physical and natural elements in the world to improve man's existence. Well, we know that science is observational and experimental in nature.
Looking at the stages of human evolution, even during the Stone Age, man was able to start fire by striking stones together. That was pure science, and it solved a problem. For me, the philosophy of science is simply the logical reasoning necessary to understand a concept or provide solutions to problems.
We can see this during the Bronze Age, when man was able to melt bronze and use it for different purposes. Science must not be complicated for it to be science; sometimes it's just observation of behavior. Socal science, which is regarded as observational science, is still science, even though it looks at the relational aspect of human existence. It gathers facts and provides solutions to issues. Some may regard it as inferior to experimental science. For me, I feel it's more complex. Human behavior can be subjective. The way I behave when I'm with my friends if we are locked up in a small room will be different from when I'm locked up in a room with total strangers.

Natural science, which has to do with understanding phenomena through empirical lenses, has evolved over the years. Natural science is based on experiments and observations. Here we have the life sciences, of which biology is an example, and also the physical sciences, where chemistry, physics, and astronomy come in.

Science has been beneficial to man right from the Stone Age to the modern age. Man has used science to invent tools and equipment that are useful to him.
Imagine how man practiced agriculture during the Stone Age. It wasn't easy, I guess. Now, man's practice of agriculture has become easier and more productive with the invention of machines and chemicals, which have aided farmers.
In the aspect of transportation, we can see science playing a big role in the movement of people from one place to another. Imagine us still using horses and donkeys as our means of movement. Now we can travel the world easily and with lots of comfort. Indeed, science has been good to man.

The revolutionary power of science can be seen in the field of medicine. Man has been able to save lives because of his inventions in the medical sector. From simple herbal solutions to the more complicated world of surgery, just think of a neurosurgeon and all the lives they have saved, and then one will appreciate science.

Just look at our phones; they have become our lives practically. A friend would say his phone is his office, and I can't survive a day without it. That is what science has been able to do for man. Now I can communicate with anyone without distance being a barrier.

Science has indeed made the world a global village, uniting people from different regions, but we have the other side of science, which has led to the destruction of man. The art of war has indeed evolved over the years, and more dangerous weapons have been invented.

Galileo Galilei, Aristotle, Thales, Democritus, Socrates, Newton, and Albert Einstein have been regarded as the fathers of science because of their contributions in the field of science. I would say that science is as old as the first man. Man had invented things that helped him survive. So science has always been part of man and will continue to be part of man. In his quest for knowledge and how to improve his environment, man will always relate to science.

It's amazing how far we've come with the help of science. I wonder where we would be without the input from Galileo, Newton and Einstein.

Man has indeed been helped with science, the aforementioned have contributed to the advancement of science

We can't over emphasize the impact of science
