I hear you. I almost gave up a few times in the beginning. It’s all just in what you are trying to do. For stuff like drone photography, those are really simple to fly and handle, just takes some practice. But for what I do, it’s all manual controls and I am wearing goggles, so I get that first person experience that lets me fly the way I do. Simulators like Liftoff are a great way to learn the FPV world.
It'll work with a game pad like an xbox or PS controller, but if you get serious, you'll want an actual drone radio controller. If you have a DJI camera drone, you should be able to use that. I spent like 100 hours in the simulator before I ever flew a physical drone.
If you do decide you want to get further with it, check out the Radiomaster Pocket. It's similar in size and form as a game controller, but can actually control a drone. FPV Sky.Dive is a game on Steam that you can get for free to start. They have map expansions and such you can purchase, but it's free to get started. Liftoff is my sim of choice right now. It's pretty amazing, but costs $20.
I was like that at first, lol. You just need more stick time. Simulators are amazing too.
I'm a complete beginner. Time will tell if I'll progress or just stick to photography :-)

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely try the simulator sometime.

I could find a PS controller somewhere. I don't own a DJI. I'll have to make do with what I have :-)
