Knifes - mankind would not be the same without them. It's probably the 2nd oldest (after the "hammer") tool we have created.
Everybody still uses knifes almost every day, unless you have personell who cook for you and do everything else for you.
Many things would be rather difficult to do without knife - have you ever tried to eat a steak without using a knife?
But despite all that, knifes have a bad reputation. Owning knives, having knowledge about knives, making knives, sharpening knives, all those things are suspicious for some people - while they most likely own and use knives themself.
Yes, no doubt, knives are weapons, too. I guess it didn't take long, until our ancestors figured that out. Same as with hammers, axes, forks and whatever, up to the most modern things today like lasers and robots.
Still, this should not prohibit to talk about knifes, or be reason to feel bad about it. At the end of the day, its never the weapon that kills someone, its the person that uses it.
So it will certainly be no harm to share knowledge about knives. And there is more knowledge to share than any of us can imagine. I tried to get an overview - and soon realised there is more than one can learn in one life time.

The world would be a vastly different place without edged tools and I don't think there's anything wrong with knives, just how some people use them. They are a tool, nothing more, it's only in the hands of human when they can become sinister.
