A picture can say a thousand things, as they say, and this photograph isn't from that day, but rather of one of my cats, who has been with us for three months. The day I found him in the entrance of my building, I initially didn't want to take him in, thinking about how many cats I already have. But about five hours later, I passed by him again and thought maybe someone had adopted him, but no, that little cat was still there, seeking shelter from the heavy rain. So, I had to make the quick decision to take him to my apartment.
Some say cats choose you, and it certainly seems that way. That cute little cat waited for me to pick him up. After bringing him to my apartment, I surprised my wife. Well, she didn't scold me; rather, she felt sorry for the cat, all wet from the rain and shivering. So she bathed him, dried him well, and fed him. Then she tucked him in so he could sleep for a while, and he did sleep for a good while. It was as if he were resting after all those days he'd spent on the street.
We named this kitten, with colors like a cow, Sasuke after a character from the anime series Naruto. Although, after a while, we started calling him Pepito. I don't know why, but Pepito even sounds better in the songs I make up for my cats. As you can see, I often make up songs for my pets with their names. It's a way of communicating with them. Believe it or not, sounds can establish that kind of communication between cat and human.
All this time we've watched Pepito grow up, and we see him as a sweet cat, although he can be quite mischievous at times—well, that's normal for cats his age. But I'll never forget the day I first saw him, and I can't imagine not adopting him. It's something I would have deeply regretted, but well, the best is yet to come.
After Pepito had been living with us for a while, I came across a whole pack of cats with their mother near where I live. Based on their features and how old they all look, I think they might be his siblings and mother. I even overheard someone say that Pepito came from another building where I'd seen his mother and siblings. Thankfully, many people take care of those cats and make sure they're fed, but I don't know how Pepito ended up in my building. Maybe it was meant to be, and he was looking for a human. It's all part of the harmony and love we can have with our pets; it's a connection that develops, and they all know it in some way, just as we know each other well. They're part of our extended family.
The photographs are my own.

Was Pepito looking for a home for his family?
How wonderful that they've found people to take care of them!
