A dropdown with all communities will be huge. Was that whatnyoynhad in mind?
Personally I like the fact that you can filter on a word in the community. So beer would give your community, but also beers beerlovers etc.
Do you mean more than 7 days? The 7 days is because it is a curation tool.
But maybe it can be expanded.
I think it would be useful for you to catch all blogs with the #beersaturday tag.

The - filtering options could be useful on that one as well by the way. So I can filter out my own post for example.
