RE: A Web2 Bridge for Hive idea

in Synergy Builders2 months ago

First, the glasses suit you anyway. As long as they let you see, it doesn't matter. Vision suits you. Secondly, good to hear a voice that I've read a lot, but never heard.

five minute mark:

Sounds like a similar way in which web-wallets worked on WAX, with WAX cloud wallet. Wax had its own flaws, but it was / is easy to use. Even had the ability to log in with Google / FB / Other auth services.

sustainability:

Take a hardcoded beneficiary. You only get it back if you take custody of your account. The longer you take to /take/ custody back, the less of a percentage of that beneficiary the user gets back.

I think that it would be important to teach people the sovereignty of their account.

I don't like the delegation for votes model, personally - and I typed this at the moment exactly as you said "some people won't like this" 😝

account creation

I think I have a bunch of account creation tokens, and I know many community accounts too. I would be happy to "sponsor" the creation of many accounts, using those tokens, but ... I think it would important to have people be on hive for the right reason - because they have something to say.

Beneficiary could be a solution here as well. That way, sponsorship of an account is a gamble.

emancipation

I think "with-holding" a portion of rewards with beneficiary (on a countdown, as a percentage) might be an interesting model - an ongoing fomo to do it as soon as possible - without it being out of reach, or having goal posts that change all the time.

I like the way your brain works, feel way more connected through this video. :)

Sort:

because they have something to say

I don't think everyone has something to say. I think the vast majority of people like to listen, to consume if we must put it like that. I would prefer to say they are looking for something that resonates, maybe enriches their day/life. Not everyone is or wants to be a creator, but they may enjoy being part, helping to create what Hive is all about.

I am being selfish, because I have always so much to say. I'm looking at it from my perspective, but you remind me that not everyone uses HIVE for the same reason - as a vehicle of self expression.

Being able to "earn" (and be a patron of the content of others) is something I've written about on chain in the past. Much better than sending money down the tube in one off payments. But I think that's for emancipated accounts to consider, not these "bridged" accounts.

Please do be selfish, listeners will need speakers 😍

I've looked at the opportunities to "earn" too, I wrote a manifesto for The Ink Well community for a "readers and writers community" - where readers come to enjoy their writers, connect with them, support their work and form friendships with other supporters. It's great on Hive, you can consume and be paid for it if you want to invest a little money! And if you don't that's fine, too. But somehow we have to get those readers/consumers/curators to Hive.

I'd be interested to read your ideas if you want to link the post(s) 🙂

I originally wrote it years ago, I updated it for "current times" not so many moons ago.

I am grateful for every reader I have here. I joined a local writer's group to help with my fiction, and having the chance to be a speaker / listener in those small groups are fantastic. I hope I can lure one or more of them to Hive. :)

Great, I look forward to reading it!
Here's the manifesto I wrote. It's been updated by the current team for their purposes, and it has some very practical detail about the Ink Well community, but I think the introduction, readers' and investors' sections still stand.

I just had a read. Great! :)

Reading through the comments answered a lot of questions I would have had around the manifesto. Manifesto(s) aren't static things, they can have different versions, and being able to see that history is fantastic. Also, I thought I was following you already, but I wasn't... that is getting fixed now.

its always better to get to know the human... this is why going to steemfest all those years ago changed everything for me.
