Another HiveFest is coming to an end, and another year is fast approaching. I’ve been known to say that all Hiveans should experience HiveFest at least once in their lives, but sadly for me, that just wasn’t in the cards this time around.
That said, staying up late to hear the presentations was worth it. These kinds of events give me the peace of mind I need to sleep soundly. None of us are going anywhere, and despite the valuation and ranking of our dear token not going our way, builders keep on building.
It’s different for everyone, I’m sure, but if I had to single out one thing that should give everyone some bullish legs, it’s the idea of layer two accounts. The notion that people can sign up with a Google email and be onboarded in mere minutes — that’s the kind of frictionless experience we need. And it looks like we’re heading there very, very soon.
With that said, I haven’t been sitting on my hands either. Between fixing a few instruments to make some fiat, I’ve also been polishing @snapie. I squashed some bugs and created enough pull requests this week to keep my brother busy (and mildly annoyed). We should be releasing a new version for both iOS and Android in the next few days.
I truly believe that a few months from now, there will be a version of @snapie that becomes the easiest way to onboard people to Hive. Imagine an onboarding process that’s nothing more than a QR code someone can scan to download the app — and just a few minutes later, that new user can start interacting using their Twitter or Facebook login, whichever they prefer. Imagine how efficient that would be during a presentation — giving newcomers an immediate, simple way to experience a piece of our ecosystem.
As long as we keep working on our dapps, reducing friction, and bringing Hive to everyday people, we’re on the right track. No matter how many red candles show up along the way.

Easy onboarding is essential. I've got plenty of account tokens and want to use them. Short form posts are a good entry point as long as people realise there is more to Hive if they want it.
I'm sure there will be a post about level 2 light accounts soon. I think its going to be a game changer.
Not giving up either...
