I’m not particularly a fan of horror movies, I think they’re overrated and I barely watch them, I think my brain is so quick to program my mind that it isn’t real. I spend most of the time watching it to look at the makeup, the shot or just pick apart the storyline, lol I don’t usually pick horror movies to watch unless I’m with friends and they want something scary, I love feel good movies as I like to call them.
Anyway, I was at film club last week Friday and guys what? We were watching a horror movie, I wasn’t so excited but I thought to myself “how bad could it be?”
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the movie and I would watch it again.
“ I know what you did last summer “ this movie is a horror suspense film centering 4 friends who accidentally killed a man and dumped his body in the river. They made a vow to take the secret to their grave but, the next summer they returned home for the holidays they started receiving threatening letters with the lines.. you guessed right! “ I know what you did last summer!”
This was really an exciting watch, usually I’d prefer serial killer documentaries than horror movies cause there’s more… substance but thisss I loved.
I got to shout at the characters from my side of the screen. There were moments I was quiet and concentrating intensely and the other moments? I was genuinely scared. This is usually very hard for me as I so explicitly explained in the beginning of this letter which is why I picked this as the scariest horror movie I have ever watched and I highly recommend.
Surprisingly the movie wasn’t too gorey like most horror movies are with very over the top costume makeup, there was a lot of crabs, fish, scary siblings and most importantly, Hooks. As the movie was set in a fishing town. There were deaths (obviously! What’s a horror movie without many of those) most of them unnecessary but hey! Spice to the movie. The only part I didn’t really like was when my favorite character died. The antagonist was really scary, always making them run while he walked slowly, always 4 steps ahead of them in all their plans, he was badass.
I’m trying hard to talk about the movie and also not give spoilers because of how excited I am to talk about it. I think I did a good job, now it’s left for you guys to enjoy it. I hope I’m not too late to write on this prompt, I just saw it a few minutes ago and decided to hop on it.
