To My Darling TV Remote

It was getting to midnight, a perfect night I had planned with my husband. Tonight, we have our special show to watch, and everything has been put in place to make the night go smoothly.

Kid already asleep, popcorn ready, socks on my feet, duvet on my body to keep the cold wind at bay, tiger nut milk drink on the table while I lie my back comfortably on the couch 🛋️, ready for the magic night 🌃 to begin.

The only thing missing to make this night perfect is my TV remote control.

The last time I checked, it was lying idly on the TV decoder, but now I can't seem to find it. Where could it have been when I needed it the most? Oh no, not again, and definitely not tonight of all nights. I looked at my husband, who was sitting beside me, waiting patiently for the start of our favorite show. Our eyes locked with each other, and without saying a word, he knew exactly the look on my face and what it meant. So he began to show concern.

"Babe, can't you remember the last time you used it?"

"I used it late this afternoon, and I remember placing it on top of the decoder, but now I can't seem to find it. Why does this remote like to show its power? Why this night?" I kept airing my displeasure, and while he was helping me search for the remote, I decided to pen down this short note for it.

To My Darling TV Remote,

I know you are somewhere and probably watching from your hidden place right now. But I'm here wondering where are you this time around? Why do you love disappearing on me when I need you the most? Do you know I had this night planned to be perfect, only to find you wanting even when you knew you had such an important role to play in it? When you know perfectly you have no phone number where I can reach you, yet you keep on disappearing as you please, most especially at midnight. Is this fair on your part? And how long do you keep on doing this to me? You could have hinted at your whereabouts, but no, you just have to show me how powerful you are on this night.

I guess we are going to watch our special show, pressing my decoder button every now and then, and you know how inconvenient that can be. Do I have to get you a phone that I can use in tracking you every now and then, or should I just get another you? This is something we will need to discuss when you resurface again. Until then, bye for now.
