Greetings to all Midnight owls! This is my first post in the community and entry in the Midnight Letters. I usually play chess at night. I live in Southeast Asia (UTC+08:00) so it's about 12am now. I'm playing a recent game I downloaded that I saw from @southgamer : Call of Dragons. I'm playing the game as I begin to write this post.
My Game Progress
My city is at level six and my power has grown to 64k. I collected heroes that will help me fight against darklings that invade the land (PVE). I'm also farming for resources to build and upgrade my city, train troops and research new technologies. My priority is to upgrade my town to higher levels, do more research and upgrade my troops. I'm also levelling up my heroes.
The game is overwhelming to me. There are a lot of events to do. Between upgrading my city and doing the events, the game could easily take up your time.
The Strongest Lord and Lucky Spin events are for whales. The reward for these events are legendary heroes but you have to spend money to fight in these events. For free to play players, a good event is Eliana's Crisis. The reward is the epic hero Eliana who is a good hero for PVE. She is great at fighting darklings.
Tech Tree
Tech tree is about research. There are two tech trees: economy and military. Both have a lot of items to research and will need a lot of resources and speed ups. This is the gate that separates free to play and whale players. The more you spend, the faster your development, the more heroes and the more troops you have.
Buildings
There are a lot of buildings in the city that I have to level up. The Hall of Order is the main one building. There are farms that produce resources, the Research lab for tech, buildings for training different types of troops, alliance center, etc. All these also need to level up that both need resources and speed ups.
PVE
The PVE is my favorite part. My current mission is to rescue the missing hero. I cannot advance yet because my level is low. I still need to level up my city to seven qualify for the mission.
Conclusion
The game is fun to play when you have nothing better to do. It keeps you engaged and gives small rewards for quests that you complete. The disadvantage is that you have to play daily or else you will lag in development compared to other players. When you delay your development, your power will be less than others and you will lose in the PVP part of the game. You can spend some money to speed up your development but where's the fun in that? We play games to spend free time and not spend money. My city still needs two hours to level up to seven but it's already past midnight so I'm signing off the game and closing this post. Thank you!

So true about the events. It is numerous in number. Nonetheless, I am glad you are getting ahead with builds.
The small rewards we get for each achievement keeps me motivated. The devs know how to keep people playing the game daily. :)
