Monday Belief

in Midnight Letters2 days ago (edited)

Greetings everyone!
I’m really glad to participate in this week’s Midnight Owl prompt.

For many people, Monday carries a special kind of seriousness. A lot of traders and business owners believe that if you make good sales on Monday, it’s a sign that the rest of your week will be productive. In other words, the success of Monday is seen as a symbol of how the entire week might go.

I remember back in my secondary school days, we also had our own Monday beliefs. We used to say that if you came late on a Monday, you would probably come late throughout the week. Nobody wanted that kind of reputation especially knowing how strict our teachers were. Many of them believed that Monday was meant for focused and disciplined students, so lateness was not something they tolerated at all.

In Africa Nigeria in particular Monday is often viewed as a day meant for serious-minded people. Many people treat Monday with deep respect because they see it as a day that sets the tone for everything that follows. It’s the beginning of the week, and to me, it is also the beginning of blessings for those who are ready to work and stay committed. But honestly, Monday has never been a very exciting day for me. Anytime a new week is approaching, I start feeling a shift almost like my mind is getting ready for the seriousness that Monday demands. Truly, Monday is not for the lazy.

Sometimes I even think about the idea of Monday itself. Whoever came up with the concept of Monday must have been a very disciplined person. Otherwise, people wouldn’t treat the day with so much importance. Monday is not a playful day it stands out among all the days of the week.

Even when we look at the Bible, we see that God began His work at the start of the week and rested on the seventh day. If we follow that pattern, it shows that Monday has always been a symbol of work, productivity, and purpose.

Thanks for reading.

Nice take on Monday! I like how you connected it to both school habits and bigger ideas of purpose. Definitely makes me see Mondays a bit differently. 😅
