
This week we will talk about what is the quickest food to prepare at midnight. There are many options, but in my country, the quickest thing to prepare at night is an arepa stuffed with cheese. It is something we like to make when we are awake at midnight and start to feel that urge to eat, as if we haven't eaten all day and can't go to sleep.
I remember that when I was a child, I had to cook as quietly as possible so that my mother wouldn't wake up, because she would scold me for eating so late. Besides, I couldn't leave anything dirty or in a place other than where it was before, although that was a little difficult because I never understood mothers' uncanny ability to remember exactly how they left things. That adrenaline rush we all felt from cooking without being discovered, even though we got scolded anyway because they found out one way or another.
Those meals were the best. I don't know if it was because they were improvised or because we were so hungry at the time, but even though they were quite simple, they tasted amazing, not to mention that after eating we went to sleep.
