Keeping a Work Journal ~ the Secret of my Writing Practice

in Lifestylelast month

I am a creative and take my work seriously. Every day time is set aside to write, sew, draw and most of that work I share with the world in various ways. As a self described content creator I feel a responsibility to create meaningful pieces of art.

It isnt enough to share an image of unedited moment of my musings. I want to impart a message of inspiration to you dear reader. And that is why each and every post on HIVE starts out as a draft in my work jounal. Over the course of several mornings I work out the phrasing, take pictures, and arrange it all in the entries I share in this community and others too.

Often times inspiration for an interesting article or video appears in my head un anounced. I just jot it down in my journal. A word or two to describe the sensation or even a nearly complete idea are stored in the safety of my journal to be returned to when I have time to write more extensively the following morning.

Between filming videos, sharing a few different platforms, and my endless stream of ideas there is often not enough time in my work day to do everything. Instead I plan out a schedule for the next 12 days or so with suggestions on the order of making such publications.

The pages are full of inspiration from the past and dreams of future writing. Whenever I open the notebook I am reminded of my mission to share and bring positivity and craftiness to the world.

I enjoy the benefit of having learned from so many writers, herbalists, and artists who have shared their images and stories in books, zines, and online platforms too. Now, it is my turn to share the process behind my writing and hope that the inspiration continues.
