Today, I woke up in excellent spirits and invited my family to dine at the Chinese restaurant Min Chih Tang, to indulge in what I love most there: spicy garlic shrimp and their famous Chinese fried rice. This restaurant is a truly beautiful and peaceful place—silence is its specialty. The staff are incredibly kind and always attentive to every need.
We chose to have lunch on the terrace because upon arrival, there was a power outage—a recurring issue in my country for years. But Cubans always find a way to adapt and overcome. Before long, the electricity returned, and we continued to enjoy our meal.
The restaurant is adorned with traditional Chinese guardian lions, which serve as iconic symbols of the venue, along with a small altar dedicated to Chinese deities of prosperity and abundance. On the terrace, there’s even a charming miniature replica of the Great Wall of China—the nation’s most emblematic landmark.
When the dishes arrived, my family and I were practically drooling. We eagerly savored each delicious flavor, enjoying every bite together.
It was a truly phenomenal day, one that left us already longing to return. If you ever find yourself in Ciego de Ávila, do not miss the chance to visit Min Chih Tang—and enjoy it just as much as we did!
