Greetings dear hive bloggers, its been a few months i stopped writing on this space because of the tidious task of doing so, but today i feel like i am free and am going to tell you my story as i wrap up the mandatory but not compulsary national youth servive in nigeria for this is a task in which every nigerian youth must enrolle in provided that the youth is below 30 years of age when he or she graduted from the university, polytechnic or college of education.
Background of the scheme:
The national youth service corps was extablish after the nigerian biafra civil war that claimed the life of over 3000000 biafran men, women and children who died as a result of food blocked and the injustice of war.
General gowon the army military head of state at the time of the said war is also the driving force for the establishment of the scheme as part of the reconsilition, reconstruction and reintegration mandate for the country to move farward as a united country.
Today i am a few days to the end of my service year and i wish to write a review of my experience while serving the country in a far away state in the north eastern part of the country called nigeria,
when i registered for the scheme in june 2024 and recived my call up letter in august to report to camp for the 21 days training starting on the 28th of august, i had to prepare in a rush and appear in camp in the stipulated day or though i arrived very late in the evening because of the distance, i enjoyed every step of the training too.
Pictures from the in camp training for NYSC Batch B2
i love the fact that it was fun filled and we had the opportunity to connect despite of our ethnic differences.
while in camp i perticipated in different activities such as mind the gap inter platoon debate competition, cultural exchange through dance and drama, inter platoon drills and thug of way of which i really cannot be able to post all of them on this space because i have a maximum of ten pictures per post.
so while our camp activities ended in september, we were all posted to diferent place of primary assignment, which i was posted to college of agriculture science and technology jalingo to serve as a graduate assistant and also was assigned a CDS group called DODEEL.
A CDS group is an acronym for community development srvice while DODEEL is an acronym for Digital Onboarder Digital litracy Enterprenuarship Empowerment Leadership Development.
it provided me the platform to network and learn new things while giving back to the community.
i made a lot of friends and i also made a few enemy for myself because i wanted to correct things i see wrong in human to human interaction and thats it, it only happens when i dwell in the national association of catholic corps members family house which is a religious body that helps providing accomodation for corps members in the state with no money to pay for hose rent.
i will not get to the details of it but i hope you bear with me as i continue with my experience review.
my service year was fun and i will miss my friends from all parts of the country, especially mrs caterine akawu.
my PPA which is my place of primary assignment too, my HOD is a cearing father and i will miss him too, i am only praying that i will secure a better Job from here so as to be able to take care of my self after this scheme, please if you have a job referral i am always open, for remote jobs outside of nigeria and onsite jobs withing nigeria.
