The Universidad de Oriente is located in the eastern part of Venezuela, in the states of Sucre, Bolívar, Anzoátegui and Nueva Esparta. Its headquarters is located in the state of Sucre, in the Cerro Pan de Azúcar building, together with Cerro Colorado, near the San Luis beach in the city of Cumaná.
The rector's office of the aforementioned university, as shown in the photograph, is located on Gran Mariscal Avenue in the same city. There are several buildings that carry out administrative and bureaucratic procedures. The main headquarters is that building that covers more than half a block where it is located, an architectural work of four floors, and an internal organization for the attention of students and faculty.
It also has a work in front called "Walk of illustrious sucrenses", where there are sphinxes or statues such as Antonio José de Sucre, the Great Marshal of Ayacucho, Luis Manuel Peñalver, first rector of the Universidad de Oriente, as well as Valentín García, so called because he saved the life of Simón Bolívar in an attack, among others.
There was an event that caused us much sadness because in a student protest mixed with some unwanted actors, they knocked down all the sphinxes leaving in very bad condition the walk of illustrious Sucreans. We aspire to recover these statues for the enjoyment of the whole community. And to show the world that we have a very beautiful historical legacy.

La universidad de Oriente, ubicada justamente la zona oriental de Venezuela, en los Estados Sucre, Bolívar, Anzoátegui y Nueva Esparta. En el estado Sucre está ubicada su sede, en el edificio del Cerro Pan de Azúcar, conjuntamente con el Cerro Colorado, cercana a la playa de San Luis de la ciudad de Cumaná.
El rectorado de la mencionada universidad, como se muestra la fotografía está ubicado en la Avenida Gran Mariscal de la misma ciudad. Existen varias edificaciones que desarrollan trámites administrativos y burocráticos. La sede principal es ese edificio que abarca más de media cuadra donde está ubicado, una obra arquitectónica de cuatro pisos, y una organización interna para la atención de estudiantes y profesorado.
También cuenta con una obra enfrente denominada "Paseo de ilustres sucrenses", donde se destacan esfinges o estatuas como la de Antonio José de Sucre, el Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, Luis Manuel Peñalver, primer rector de la Universidad de Oriente, además de Valentín García, llamado así porque le salvó la vida a Simón Bolívar en un atentado, entre otros.
Hubo un hecho que nos generó mucha tristeza dado que en una protesta estudiantil mezclada con algunos actores no deseados derribaron todas las esfinges dejando en muy mal estado el paseo de ilustres sus sucrenses. Aspiramos recuperar estas estatuas para el disfrute de toda la colectividad. Y para mostrarle al mundo que tenemos un legado histórico muy hermoso.
