Uno de los sitios que más disfruto ir dentro de la ciudad es la Concha Acústica, está ubicada exactamente en el centro, lo que hace que sea muy sencillo llegar hasta allá. Aunque pensándolo bien está en el centro sur, a dos cuadras de la calle comercio y sorprendentemente es muy poco transitada.

One of the places I most enjoy going to in the city is the Concha Acústica, it is located exactly in the center, which makes it very easy to get there. Although on second thought it is in the south downtown, two blocks away from the commercial street and surprisingly it is not very busy.

El día de ayer me fui con Siule y sus dos pequeñitas aprovechando que estábamos cerca, el viaje a Curarigua nos había dejado con ese sentimiento del campo y pues estar en medio de estos árboles seguros serviría de refugio para conversar, respirar aire puro y compartir un rato.

Yesterday I went with Siule and her two little ones, taking advantage of the fact that we were close, the trip to Curarigua had left us with that feeling of the countryside and being in the middle of these trees would serve as a safe haven to talk, breathe fresh air and share a while.

Hace algunos meses había venido junto a mi hijo Jeremías, que por cierto lo extrañé mucho ayer. Tenía una imagen de un parque recién pintado, arreglado y listo para ser un sitio turístico de excelencia como otrora, sin embargo, ayer nos dimos cuenta de que está bastante descuidado. Ramas de árboles, hojas y mucho sucio estaban dentro de los estanques, lo cual no es ni sombra de los que había visto meses atrás.

Some months ago I had come here with my son Jeremías, who by the way I missed very much yesterday. I had a picture of a freshly painted park, spruced up and ready to be a tourist site of excellence as it once was, however, yesterday we realized that it is quite neglected. Tree branches, leaves and a lot of dirt were inside the ponds, which is not even a shadow of what I had seen months ago.

Asumo que está en un proceso de mantenimiento, pero que fue comenzado y no lo terminaron como es debido. El estanque está vacío. Era una de las grandes atracciones porque podías interactuar con amplia variedad de peces que hacían el momento algo gracioso y diferente.

I assume it is in a maintenance process, but it was started and not finished properly. The pond is empty. It was one of the big attractions because you could interact with a wide variety of fish that made the moment something funny and different.

La concha acústica es un oasis dentro de la ciudad y a mi parecer es poco valorada. Recibió una gran inversión para restaurar, pero como pasa como con casi todas las obras públicas del país, el pie chueco es el mantenimiento. Las cosas, quieras o no en el tiempo, conlleva desgaste y para poderlas conservar debes seguir atento a las cosas que debes recomponer y sustituir si es necesario.

The acoustic shell is an oasis in the city and in my opinion is undervalued. It received a great investment to restore, but as it happens with almost all public works in the country, maintenance is the wrong foot. Things, whether you like it or not over time, wear out and in order to preserve them you have to keep an eye on the things that need to be recomposed and replaced if necessary.

Logramos estar un buen tiempo, vimos algunos animales, ardillas, gatos y los perros de la policía canina que en ese horario acostumbran a dar un paseo. Las niñas se pasearon en el parque mientras las supervisábamos de lejos y logramos sacar algo de tiempo para hacer una merienda debajo de las grandes sombras que proveen esta hermosa vegetación.

We managed to stay for a while, we saw some animals, squirrels, cats and the dogs of the canine police that usually go for a walk at that time. The girls wandered in the park while we supervised them from afar and we managed to take some time to have a snack under the great shadows provided by this beautiful vegetation.

El recorrido no es mucho en realidad, es como si se dejara solo un lado de la montaña que está descubierta y dejada para que la vegetación pueda ser parte de esta. Lo sustentada una naciente de agua cristalina que provee los estanques y luego termina de bajar para integrarse con el río turbio que pasa a escasos 2 kilómetros aproximadamente.

The route is not really much, it is as if only one side of the mountain is left uncovered and left so that the vegetation can be part of it. It is sustained by a spring of crystalline water that provides the ponds and then it finishes descending to integrate with the turbid river that passes to scarce 2 kilometers approximately.

En los alrededores, hay invasiones que con el transcurso de los años se convirtieron en casa. Asumo que deben tener alguna llamada de peligrosidad, pues algunas están construidas en pendientes muy pronunciadas, por lo que no tienen bases suficientes para la seguridad que amerita el resguardo de las personas.

In the surrounding area, there are invasions that over the years have been converted into houses. I assume that they must have some kind of danger, since some of them are built on very steep slopes, so they do not have sufficient foundations for the safety that the protection of people deserves.

Lo cierto es que otra vez el parque está casi al borde del olvido, como sucedió durante muchos años. La autoridad ahora mismo están de cabeza en la campaña de las elecciones presidenciales y creo toca esperar a ver que va a pasar con este tesoro de la naturaleza que se ofrece para entregarnos oxígeno puro en medio de todo el dióxido de carbono que hay en el centro de la ciudad de Barquisimeto.

The truth is that once again the park is almost on the verge of oblivion, as it has been for many years. The authorities are now focused on the presidential election campaign and I think it is time to wait and see what will happen with this treasure of nature that offers to give us pure oxygen in the midst of all the carbon dioxide in the center of the city of Barquisimeto.
