Long day planned today clearing one off my beer bucket list, a visit to the oldest pub in London the Prospect of Whitby in Wapping.
First things first up at 7 for the train to London not too busy this time of the morning I guess it will be by the time I arrive in London in a few hours.
Next on the list is the tube from Paddington to Tower Hill on the Circle Line. I really don’t like the Tube but it’s the quickest way to get to Tower Hill and the start of the walk to the pub. Round the Tower of London, across the road at Tower Bridge along Wapping High Street to the Prospect of Whitby.
Which is the oldest Riverside Pub in London dating back to 1520 it still an original flagstone floor and ships masts built in to the structure and some of it’s old customers included Charles Dickens, Samuel Pepys, Judge Jeffries, now they can add Kevin Hampson.
So Hivers what did I have to drink today it was Blind Poet Porter by New River brewery it was a very pleasant slightly smokey porter of 4.5%ABV
That went down very nicely with the steak and ale pie with mash I had for lunch.
