A beer Cave with some unique offerings

in BEER4 years ago (edited)

There a gas station that I frequent daily. Mainly because it's on my way home, and they have a Dunkin Donuts.

With the reopening still in process. There are few places available, to get a bite to eat. Especially that late in the evening.

A year or so ago, this Gas station began to sell beer and wine. They even added a beer cave.

I've kinda considered it a gimmick, up until now. Mainly because there's a beer and wine store located a minute walk from it's location. That place has been there for years. So I never really gave it much thought. Yet a few days ago, I decided to browse their selection.

Of course they had their Budweiser selection.

I've never heard of Budweiser Nitro Reserve, until now. I found that kinda unique. I also didn't know they had an Orange flavored Budweiser. I think I'd try that.

Then of course they had their Corona and Corona light.

I'd hardly ever turn down a Miller Lite or a Twisted Tea, if offered.

Sam Adams Summer Ale was my favorite for a long time. Though the Sam Adams Boston Lager, was the only Sam Adams that most bars had for too long. It got old quickly. The Sam Adam New England Lager is one of those that I know I've had. Yet I don't remember much about it.

Blueberry beers are nice.

I truly don't understand the need for an alcoholic seltzer.

Natural Ice and Natty Ice reminds me of my first days in Rhode Island, going to college keg parties. Not really caring about what kind of beer I drank. At the time I wasn't legal enough to drink. In my eyes, any beer was a good beer. Socializing back then, was on a whole different level.

You'll notice Pabst Blue Ribbon photobombing in the corner. I know there was a certain apocalyptic movie where it held a key scene.

Steel Reserve brings me back to my "drinking a 40 days with my dogs" days.

Can't forget the Fosters Beer commercials. Can't even say it without dropping the Australian accent.

The Strawberita is one of my mom's favorites.

I remember buying a few extra cases of Mike's Hard Lemonade, after hearing that Rhode Island was considering banning them.

That was of course until Four Loco came out, an out did them. An energy drink combined with a beer. Served in a huge monster can. Those were crazy days. Eventually they were forced to change their recipe.

I once had a customer offer me a White Claw while delivering. My automated response is always, "Can I take to go". I won't open it there. Most of the times I give it to a co-worker. To enjoy after work of course. :)

Though in the past I saw nothing wrong with drinking a quick beer, and partaking in other activities. In today's world of SnapChat. It's not worth the risk.

Overall I was surprised at some of the unique beers this little gas station offered.

I enjoy an ice cold Shock Top and I'd follow it with an ice cold Blue Moon.

Not your father's Rootbeer was definitely an unexpected find. Pretty tasty.

An Angry Orchard Apple Cider Beer makes for a nice, sit back and chill beer.

I'm afraid that despite my time in Rhode Island, and my proximity to Boston. I'm just not a Guinness fan. I know I just broke a few hearts, but I'm sorry. I've tried.

I'll take Heineken or even a Modelo first. I'd even go as far as to say. I'd take any beer found in these pictures before I accepted a Guinness. Out of courtesy of course. Wouldn't want someone to waste a beloved beer on me.

Thank you for taking the time to share with me. I invite you to check out the #beersaturday challenge hosted by @detlev and supported by the #beer community.

If by chance you've had a few beers, and feel a sudden need for some poetry. Check out the poem I recently posted. It's called

What a post - now I'm thirsty!

Only 2 more hours to 4 o'clock aka BEERtime

That's great lol

I didn't realize I wrote the #beersaurday reversed.. Just edited it lol. Oops

Those are nice finds indeed. For too long I mostly drank the regular commercial stuff. Not long after discovering all these new styles, I moved back to Europe. A shame I did not get to sample American brews so abundant and on offer.

Thanks for taking me back to an American cave.

Well like glad you enjoyed the flash back :)

Oh yes I did sir! I probably will post one of these flashbacks in the future!
