Road Tripping and a New Beer in the Queen City

On #beersaturday I found myself in the Queen City of North Carolina, also known as Charlotte.

It had been several months, well actually about seven weeks, since we had a family gathering. And since our last gathering was much closer to home it was time for a road trip!

My eldest hosted a wonderful lunch and then the entire clan got locked into an escape room. I personally had never done an escape room before which to me was like the game of clue but played out with real props.

I am pleased to report that we escaped the escape room with flying colors and over two minutes to spare.

The Mrs. @handofzara had to return home to tend to our ancient dog, along with our daughter and her husband. My eldest and her husband went to their house for some rest and relaxation after a busy day of hosting.

Thus, leaving me and the boy to roam the Queen City on a dark and rainy night.

We found ourselves in a small batch brewery along Central Avenue called Pilot Brewing and popped in for a beer.

Now if you have been paying attention to the #beersaturday posts of the @handofzara, and seeing on the board all the beers I could choose, do you know which beer I ordered.

Of course not!

Rule Number One of ordering a beer in a brewery that you have never tried before is to order a Kolsch or a Helles.

It is my firm belief that if a brewery can not brew a Kolsch or a Helles then there is no point in ordering any more beers and it is time to leave. We can call this the @handofzara Rule or simply Rule Number One.

In accordance with the @handofzara Rule, I ordered the Kolsch Me If You Can.

First of all, I appreciate the fact that the tender pulled the beer with a nice head, which is so often missing from a beer in a brewery or a bar. I guess some people believe that if the glass is not full of beer then somehow they did not get their moneys worth.

Secondly, and more importantly did Pilot Brewing pass the Rule Number One test.

So did I or did I not order another beer? Did I stay or did I go?

I stayed and had apparently an award winning Czech Dark Lager which was in fact outstanding, one might call it award winning, which would not be a lie seeing as it won an award.

Now after two beers and being a dark and rainy night, abd also due to the fact that the @handofzara is no longer a Spring Chicken, it was time to head back to the boy's home and have some dinner. Of course we did get a little beer to go.

See y'all next #beersaturday.

Weekends are special and should be enjoyed as such by getting together with friends and eating and drinking as much as you like.

Hahah nice rule

Btw well done with the escape room, I never ended one, always run out of time

I thought Charlotte was only a name
I never knew it was a city too
Anyway, the Beers look lovely
Nice one!

This will definitely taste so great I strongly believe that so much

The drum rolling bear made me laugh out loud!
Also that's a rule I'll keep in mind next time.
